EBBIL: Alternative Bible is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This badly written, cringey e-book is a collection of three storylines translated really badly from Russian, and illustrated with what looks like "My First Wacom Tablet". There's a theme about the afterlife and supernatural, but none of that gets through the godawful high school dropout fanfiction writing and mangled translation. Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best... imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twilight (if you have terrible taste in literature), but then translate that to a format where the words dribble out and you have to click your mouse every time you wanted to read the next sentence, instead of just turning the pages. You'd think it was garbage. Now imagine that experience, but with much worse writing (because if these guys could write professionally, they'd be published authors and this would be on shelves in bookstores, and they wouldn't have to pay Valve $100 to self-publish this on Steam), and you have your average Steam e-book. One of the chief problems with failed authors polluting Steam with non-game E-books is that E-books can easily just be presented in a web browser... there's no justification for charging money on Steam for what might as well be a webpage. We don't spend thousands on buying a gaming rig to spend money on Steam for something Chrome or Firefox could do. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the e-book peaked at just a dozen or so concurrent readers, and now there's basically nobody reading it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. While this E-book is "free", you can get better quality, professionally written books and comics for free online (from places like Project Gutenberg) or from public libraries. Steam isn't a comic book store, neither is it Netflix, it's for games. Your gaming rig is not a Kindle. It's impossible for me to recommend things to PC gamers that aren't really games.

Мне очень понравилась игра. Получила залпом все концовки. Давно ничего подобного не читала
все было бы круче, если бы габриэль имел такую вещь как 🧠
Fantastic storytelling! The execution of choice-based mechanics was really well-done; the decisions actually matter and shape the path you travel, which is something that many choice-based games aren't able to fully realize. With this, though, it's pretty easy to see the impact of your choices. Figuring out how to get all the endings was a lot of fun! The characters and story are fleshed out and take on a life of their own. It's easy to get invested in the characters' lives, feel sympathy, anger, amusement, and a whole array of conflicting sentiments about them. Would love to see more of this universe in the future! I also can't understate how much the art brings to the game. The visual aspect of visual novels sometimes feels like it takes a back seat to attempts at subversion, but in this case, the art is a true pillar for the story. The work is stunning! Of course, I can't say it's perfect. Some sections of the game are missing translations, but it's easy enough to get around that with an image translator, and I didn't have any issues progressing through those points regardless. There are also a fair number of typos throughout the dialogue, but they don't affect the ability to understand the story and progress either. Overall, the game's functionality and content easily make up for any editing errors. I will say that if you're prone to seizures caused by light and contrast, this game is probably not going to be safe for you. The sound design is fantastic though! It's absolutely perfect, the music composition matching the tones of the story and art completely, with the sound effects fitting in just as well. I never felt like my ears were getting blasted off, but I could still hear everything just fine. It all really does fit together so nicely. I would definitely recommend this game if: 1. You're a fan of The Mandela Catalogue. As the game's description says, it's based on TMC lore. 2. You like unique stories that transform preexisting works, including classic lore and literature. EBBIL does its own thing despite being inspired by other works, and its transformative nature is very effective. 3. You enjoy characters and relationships that don't fall into clean-cut tropes and dynamics. These characters are very intriguing, and as I said, I'd love to see more stories about them. 4. You love beautiful art. 5. You're a horror fan. 6. You have a lower tolerance for horror, but you still enjoy it. The elements of horror in this game a more manageable, but still haunting and bloody. 7. You enjoy religious themes in fiction. 8. You don't enjoy religious themes in fiction, and you want to try expanding your sights/tolerance. 9. You just like a good visual novel / interactive game. And more!
