I'm not really into platformer games, but Duru is such a unique game worth the struggle. Still not far into the game, I want to help Tuli and her not so helpful ominous "friend" and I want to see how the story continues. The combination of such serious themes with such a bright atmosphere created by the music, sounds and handmade 2D graphics is amazing. Such a bold game. Give it a try.

I've already played the demo of the game and liked it. Love the theme of the game. I've barely seen any media tackling mental health in a way that isn't just a downer. Art is fantastic and the mole rats have so much personality! I really enjoy the puzzle elements aswell, the first few were a bit easy, but still enjoyable. There is more content available than most indie titles, especially for a story and puzzle focused game. At the time of this review my feeling tells me that I'm not even half way through. Overall a good game, for a chill session, would recommend.
I really like the characters and their cute interactions! It must be so difficult to write a wordless story, so kudos to the devs Haven't played that much yet, but there are hints to some mystery, so I wonder where the story will go
Salut mes petits agneaux !
I'm currently quite early in the game, but its a lot of fun! The thematical approach, as well as the overall scenario are quite unique and the game world is interesting to explore :) The first few plattforming and puzzle challenges were easy enough to get used the controls und were a lot of fun! The controls are overall enjoyable, only the throw controls are a bit fibbly. The ground collider are sometimes a bit unconsistent (in a few places) but never to a point were the game gets too frustrating. I'm looking forward to the rest of the game and the many character- and story-bits the game seems to offer!
"Duru – About Mole Rats and Depression" is a simple 2D platformer that single handedly solves the problem of mental illness and depression through a mediocre 2D retro platformer. No, wait, it doesn't do that at all. What do you do in the game? In this once-paid product, you do some platforming stuff that involves helping another, so you can learn how to cure depression. Trying to address mental health issues through the medium of video games is misguided and can be harmful. While it's plausible to suggest the intention was noble, this can do more harm than good. Game developers are not professionals in areas of mental health and social problems, and when they use video games to pretend they are, this can cause far more harm than good. Apart from the harm such hamfisted attempts at addressing mental problems can cause, this offers zero benefit to PC gamers. People suffering from health issues or other social problems should seek out professional help rather than going to crap shovelware video games attempting to get sales by exploiting such problems for their own benefit, as is the case here. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs to pretend they're mobile phones. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $20 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is still only free in a rudimentary sense... the developer has their hand out for a $5 USD "donation" for this as you're expected to buy soundtrack DLC from Steam to "support" the "developer"... digital panhandling. Like the homeless guys who splash dirty water on your windscreen at the traffic lights. No thanks. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 8 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.
