Bit of a soft warning to future players thinking of buying this game. Alot of time went into gamepad support and thats about it. The game has no point imo. No upgrades, no story, no meta progress, no ability to quit game without Altf4, you can not resize the screen it is always on windowed and small (there is no menu at all except volume), there is no level up of any kind/no progress or point to the gameplay. The game consists of a character with a sword and bow. You have to push a button over and over to attack and that is if you can find an enemy to attack. You cant hold the button down to attack at all. You have 4 enemies. A cow and a goblin and 2 others. You kill them for meat and swing at a tree. The point of the game is to eat food. Thats about it. You press the Y button to cook one of 4 things, then eat it. (Your hero is always hungry btw so the only way to die is from starvation, and luckily that comes fast.) The only purpose of walking in the game is to reach a door that takes you to another screen...that is the same area as the last. Nothing is different, every area has the same skin as the last just different tree placement. Every once in awhile a goblin or something shows up that you can smack once and he dies. For now the game is more like a demo only. If the developer works on it and adds much more content it could be better.
Dungeon Survivor delivers an enjoyable gameplay experience with intuitive controls and charming graphics. The combat mechanics particularly stood out to me, with fluid controls making sword and bow attacks feel natural and responsive. I loved the smooth animations, especially the tumble action, adding an extra layer of delight to the gameplay. However, there were a few aspects that felt a bit off. Recipes could be improved by dimming or filtering to the bottom when unaffordable. Additionally, the numeric indicators for Nutrition and Health lacked visual relatability, diminishing their clarity. I also felt the maps were a bit too expansive, occasionally leaving the game feeling somewhat empty and sparse. On the resource front, I noticed meat was surprisingly scarce compared to mushrooms, creating a challenging imbalance that might be intentional but felt slightly frustrating at times. Humorous inconsistencies, like veggie kababs containing meat and the skeleton character being notably unpleasant, added quirky charm but could use clarity or adjustment. Overall, Dungeon Survivor is fun, engaging, and shows great potential. With minor refinements, especially in resource balancing, UI improvements, and biome variety, this game could truly shine.
Great way to spend a little bit of time. The controls feel good and the game isn't too hard.
It's only $2.... but it's not worth it. I'm going to ask for a refund. It barely works for me. Maybe I am too dumb to play it, but it doesn't seem to respond and even quitting was uncertain.
