I have had this app for a while now, I backed the project through Kickstarter, and I figured I should take the time to type something up. First, This is the only VTT I am willing to use when running a game. It does EXACTLY what I want a VTT to do. Roll dice, and allow me to use custom maps and tokens. The whiteboard map feature is nice, as you can make simple maps on the fly, which is good for some indie TTRPGS where the map is generated during play. Second, Multi floor support. You can group multiple floors of a building into one map, and switch between them as needed. This is a great feature for mega dungeons, or encounters that may span multiple levels in a building. As for final thoughts, While there are some things that the competition has that are not available here, This app is light weight enough to work on a wider variety of systems to do what it says on the tin, put Dudes on a Map.
Even though I enjoy this program, I feel I need to redirect this review towards something else; A ridiculous user's incredulous review. The user "Obey the Fist!" recently posted a review of this program, consistently bashing it on flimsy arguments, namely how this is mis-categorized as a "game". While I can get behind an viewpoint like such, I stress that this not something that reflects the overall experience using this program, which he seems to base his review off of. I mean I wouldn't REALLY complain if I was told I would be given a book about black magic and was given the Necronomicon, instead. The endpoint remains the same. Even AFTER the developers respond to these veiled accusations, this particular user channels his inner journalist and twists and contorts the response's meaning to further his own point of view. And he has the gall to have a multi-paragraph essay on his profile about negative reviews being good for developers and a borderline digital blow job for this Sturgeon guy he venerates like a Deity. Sorry, I meant 90% venerates, since he is 90% full of absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. He also closed all comments on every one of his reviews. I guess critics are immune from criticism, because that's how all the successful critics work, right? Separate the wheat from the chaff? You couldn't separate two slices of bread!

Great little Vtt; if Foundry or Roll20 is too much, this gets the basics done in way less time. Love it.
Honestly a great tool, especially if you make your own maps. No fuss, no nonsense, no pay walls or subscriptions, no programming walls and doors or triggers, no modules, no uploading sheets or whatever else. It has a bunch of those as options of course, but none are necessary. It's exactly what it says on the tin, Dudes (your tokens) on a Map. Could not be simpler. The only thing, and I mean ONLY thing, that could make this tool any better is if it had a built-in map maker, if even just a rudimentary one. i know it has a sort of whiteboard map option, but just having the ability to make a map with grass/trees/buildings/dungeon walls/etc. that is already configured to the in-app grid wizard would be the cherry on top. Seriously, if you just want a simple way to throw your players onto a map you made so they can just do a combat in a room or explore a simple dungeon, this is the simplest and greatest solution. it even lets you simultaneously open a player and game master window on one machine in case you want to see exactly what your players can see, or if you want to stream your games online like twitch or youtube. 10/10
Very simple and easy to use.
Before I played Dudes on a Map: Virtual Grid Paper, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
Literally not launchable from Steam right now. Does a weird thing with my mouse cursor that I don't even know how to describe. I have been employed fixing computers for over a decade, and I don't know how to describe this. I have extremely high hopes for the product. I am not saying it will never be good, I'm saying don't get it expecting a finished product. There are so many different elements that tell me this product will be amazing once all the bugs are ironed out, it's just not there yet. If you are willing to stick with the creator until then, by all means, please support the product.
Игра 'Dudes on a Map: Virtual Grid Paper' – отличный инструмент для любителей настольных ролевых игр!
