Space simulation with RPG elements, top down perspective, indirect control over units, in the sense, that you are an independent operative that does favors, quests for different empires and when you build up political capital you can order the empire allied with you to go to war with someone. But besides that you are limited to shooting up enemies in space. Lots of random loot, although item management is tight at first. Watching relations is key. The empire with the most planets and ships is the one you gotta curry favor the most. There's a lot of ships being simulated and things a very similar to Space Rangers, another game where you fly through space and try to influence the war effort by doing missions.
good
Diablo with space politics. Simplistic, but an addictive way to while away the hours.
This game runs *so* smoothly on linux, i cannot thank the developers enough! Brilliant game, immersive dialogue and intense battle, i don't know what more one could ask for at such a reasonable price! All the best chaps
Ahh yes, my good old friend “Drox Operative”. Released back in… 2012! Has it really been that long? And it says here that we spent over 45 hours together. Well, you know what they say about “fun”, and “time flying” when you’re having it, am I right folks? Ahahahaha… hahaha… haha…heh. Ok, look. I don’t know WTF is going on here, but I have never seen this game before, I don’t know how it got here, and I definitely didn’t spend over 45 hours playing it! I’ll admit that there have been times that I’ve gone to download a game, only to find that I already have it, but it’s almost always something already downloaded but just never got around to playling… and even with the ones that I had played, I would recognize it in the first few minutes. Normally something like this would get me worried that I had a stroke, or generally second guessing my sanity, but - 1. I’m already so unhealthy that a stroke might actually be an improvement. 2. I don’t need to question my sanity, because I lost my mind many years ago. This is just more evidence of the multiverse, and I guess the other version of me really liked this game!
Super cool, fleshed out space opera thematic open world. Best part like most the Soldak games, they run on older laptops and such hardware and offer up fathoms deep gameplay. This one here probably a bit sporadic in it's random events, but requires restarting in a different kind of manner than most other games maybe considered rogue light, this isn't totally, and is unique enough to set these games apart from the mainstream pack and should be well above the bottom of the barrel, pretty nifty in fact.
A brilliant little game that gives you the system-spanning scope of a 4X but with the single-ship gameplay of something more like Rebel Galaxy or No Man's Sky. It has a similar feel to Din's Curse or Depths of Peril, also by Soldak, but the action controls more like Asteroids et al, with W to thrust and A/D to turn. Gives you a big sandbox to play in, and several ways to procure victory, plus a ton of knobs to tweak to customize each sector to your liking in terms of scope and difficulty.
Fun Diablo but in space game
Explosions! Levelling up! Action! There's a story too I think, but its buried beneath Explosions!
