Drowned God: Conspiracy of the Ages.

Honestly, it's been a long time that it really hurt me so much to give a negative review and I also requested a refund. I loved this game when it first came out but was never able to complete it due to the bugs. Unfortunately, not only do the bugs persist in this release - despite the promise made! - but the game freezes randomly every 10-15 minutes. And with "freeze", I really mean a hard freeze that can only be solved by closing the game by pressing the windows tab. Guys, please fix this. I'll gladly buy it again and even pay the 25€ it originally was. But in the state you released it now, you're really doing the legacy of Harry Horse no favors. Please reconsider.

Glad to have it on Steam. This game deserves more attention. I hope someday for a remaster with higher resolution and better quality audio but I don't think that's going to happen. At least it runs in all its original glory!

I love this game, but the constant freezes are awful. Please fix this, guys.

A great game for those of us who love the strange and unusual. I personally only experienced one small glitch at the end of the game.

Pros: Intriguing, unique game Challenging puzzles Great ambiance, visuals, sound design Cons: Modern port still has some bugs to work out; game will frequently freeze. Update, about 75% through the game: This game has some serious QC issue and bugs. It will freeze, requiring a restart, after a minute or two of idling, and within every 15-20 minutes of continuous play. There also appears two be two bugs in the "Din" level: First, if you miss one of the books in the carnival area, you will be unable to return past the turnstile if you leave early and complete the "complex machine" puzzle. Second, an incorrect prescription for the "wind setting" on that puzzle (it should actually be 5, not 4). Save frequently!

Stuttering audio, crashes often, Does not play nice with certain monitors and resolutions. I expect these issues in the original release, not a re-release.

I'm recommending this for its absolutely incredible presentation and atmosphere, and sheer brilliance in depicting UFOlogy, conspiracy theories/facts, mysticism, esotericism, etc., but be aware that the re-release is huge missed potential. A game this unique deserves better--there are too many bugs. That's all I have an issue with, really. I'd like my 1996 experience free of crashes, with no bugs forcing me to redo puzzles. I can't say I enjoyed most of the puzzles, but they're products of an era in which PC gaming was more of a luxury, and gamers were more open to teasing their brains, so I take them for what they are. You can consult a guide, though a good share of the puzzles have a randomized element, meaning you'll still need to wrap your head around the solution. After playing this year's faithful Amerzone remake, I can't help wondering if Drowned God could ever get the same treatment. The odds are low, and even lower that it would do Harry Horse's vision justice. Personally, I'd settle for a remaster with bug fixes, decent upscaling, subtitles, additional save slots, and a hotspot highlighter. But assuming that won't happen either, and this 1996 original on sale again is the only incarnation available, it largely holds up--bugs aside. Separate from the morbid fates of the game's creator and his wife, it deserves to be remembered. I just played it for the first time, knew about it for years yet never saw more than the iconic box art. Definitely not a truth I'll forget anytime soon, let alone in 40,000 years.
