7/10 Drill and bomb through platforms to recover the stolen treasure. What is it: A puzzle platformer in which you have to collect coins and reach the flag. As a drill-bit, you can change the environment by digging through sandy soil. Later mechanics include megadrills, which can be used to destroy harder stones, and dynamites, which can be used to destroy sand or push away stones and other things. The story: An "evil villain" has stolen your family's treasure and scattered it throughout the land. It is up to you to go retrieve it. The gameplay: grid-based movement, you move one step at a time. You can climb up walls, drill through sandy patches, place megadrills or dynamites, altering the environment to make a path to the coins and then to the exit. You must retrieve all the coins in the level before you can finish the level. You have to be careful not to destroy the coins or the exit, since a dynamite blast, a falling platform, or even just dropping them off screen can make them inaccessible. The concept is neat and could lead to interesting puzzles, and although some of the official levels are quite interesting, I think that the game could use a harder set of levels, perhaps in a mod. I particularly enjoyed the "Forbidden techniques" mod, it shows that there are some tricks that could be used to make some really hard levels. How hard is it: Easy to moderate, but the game has the potential for some very hard levels. How long is it: 46 levels, for about 1-2 hours, but there's workshop support for additional levels. Level design: A good start. New techniques are introduced in some easy levels, then harder levels force you to apply what you learned in interesting ways. The two new features are introduced in separate level paths before they are used together in the last part of the game. But there's so much more to explore, perhaps in upcoming mods. Quality: Good. Different profiles, good achievements, cloud save and workshop, undo and reset, controller support, a few settings, fast and responsive. Could use a few more achievements, a lot more levels, more settings. The game is open source! Unfortunately the level editor is a separate Windows-only application. Worth the price: Expensive for a 2h game, maybe if more levels are added. Most positive aspect for me: Interesting mechanics. Most negative aspect for me: Too short and easy. What would make it better: Add more levels. Make controls rebindable. Add a setting for disabling screenshake (and shorten or remove the delay it involves). Reduce the price to 5$ until there are more levels available. Also consider: SteamWorld Dig and SteamWorld Dig 2, another drilling game collection with a lot more drilling and fewer puzzles. Something Ate My Alien, platformer that also involves digging and puzzles. I'm so pleased! Drilbert does everything it says on the tin. A short puzzle game you can complete in one or two sittings. Levels and concepts are given in a practical order so if you get stuck you can go back and play the previous levels for a clue. Some of the more complex puzzles have multiple ways to complete them. There are even achievements for some of these alternate solutions.
I dig it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQn2pdSGIno
Sweet lill puzzle game about a drill guy collecting coins in more and more complex levels where you have to dig trough dirt to clear a path to the exit-flag. Starts of simple, but levels become more challenging later on. Two additional tools (megadrill and dynamite) are introduced later in the game, which opens up new possibilities to clear a level and increases challenge for the player. Cleverly, the game lets you decide which of those tools you want to play with first. Difficulty is about moderate, so you will get stuck from time to time, but no level seamed impossible after a while. Includes modding and an editor to create own levels and pack them as a campaign. Also includes the source code, which is <3 Could use more levels and maybe another tileset when you finished 3/4 of the game. Waiting for mod-levels!
Drilbert is a puzzle game. I like puzzles. I like Drilbert. Simple as that. If you like Storyteller or Cats neatly organized and have a thing for Chiptune music, chances are you also will like Drilbert. Diggy diggy hole!
Unique and charming puzzle game with nice level design. I have/had lots of fun with the megadrill and the bomb mechanics. :)
you wake up because your old Dad is nervous about his privates named Treasure. You with your drill head start drilling down on levels to drill your way around, like a mixture of Maze Runner & digger game from old DOS basically you need to collect coins and go to complete flag, but it wont be easy. there are 2 buttons that help you as undo and R so you won't be annoyed in the last bit. there is a modding menu but never tried Aiming to have 100% achievements but it is challenging,
Drilbert is a funny puzzle game, It has mechanics that are, as far as I know, quite unique. The last levels are very challenging, especially when they mix the mega drill and the dynamite.
Great game with fun and challenging puzzles. Bombs and drills mechanics add interesting possibilities to the game. I'll try to create some levels once I finish the game levels :D
Very interesting game. I didn't expect the puzzles to challenge me so much. It's probably due to the unique mechanics :) If you like puzzle games, you shouldn't miss this one.
