Honestly, DreamWorks Dragons: Dawn of New Riders is, in my opinion, significantly better than DreamWorks Dragons: Legends of the Nine Realms — and by quite a margin. That said, it still has some major flaws. At first glance, it’s clear that this is very much a game aimed at children. While playing, I often felt like you could just “turn your brain off” and mechanically progress forward without the game really pulling you in. Unfortunately, the puzzles didn’t entertain me much — they’re quite repetitive and tend to repeat often. At times, I even got lost and didn’t know what I was supposed to do. The combat isn’t much better either — it feels underdeveloped and ends up being more frustrating than fun. In the game, you control a duo — a human and a dragon. If one of them dies, you have to revive them, which can be quite annoying, especially since they don’t significantly help you in combat. Some moments were genuinely frustrating because of this. On the other hand, I do take into account that this is primarily a game for children. What pleasantly surprised me, however, was the technical side — during my playthrough, I didn’t encounter any major bugs. The main issue, though, is the price. Considering how short the game is, it simply doesn’t feel worth it. Yes, there are side quests, but they only add a few extra hours. For the same price, you could get a much higher-quality game that you’d actually want to return to. Did I enjoy it? Honestly, I can’t give a clear answer. Some moments were enjoyable, while others were quite frustrating. If you’re buying it for kids, it will probably be fine. But for the average player, I definitely wouldn’t recommend it.
Une petite aventure sympathique, pas trop longue et avec des enigmes assez accessibles. Plutôt recommandé pour un enfant qui s'essayerais pour la première fois aux jeux vidéos.
happy kiddo, but don't understand why they didn't allow co-op in a game where you control two characters...
Yes.
It was alright, I had some fun, I'd put this more as mixed towards positive. Graphics are fine to good and music is nice. The story is ok, it leaves a lot of loose threads, I guess I shouldn't expect a great story or anything, but it was a bit dissapointing not gonna lie, to have those loose ends, the ending itself wasn't THAT satisfying, overall it was just alright. The combat is maybe ok, the weapon selection and power selection from Patch, along with the options for air strike dragons that you can call in (provided you rescue them) are pretty nice, but the fighting itself doesn't feel that impactful, and sometimes when an enemy might be hard to hit as they backflip or something making their hitbox weird or nonexistent for some time. The bosses however felt nice to fight against, they weren't that bad, they had a fair amount of variety in their mechanics. The gameplay besides combat is basically puzzles, which is fine, I enjoyed them for the most part, they're pretty nice. Other than that there's the flying you can do, which might be one of the best parts of this game, it honestly feels pretty great to fly around, get speed, dive down to near the water, all of it. Definitely a highlight. Another thing to note that didn't feel good was the unnecessary movement of the camera, like when hitting a switch and a door DIRECTLY next to you opens and the camera moves to there, pauses, then moves back, completely unnecessary, there was a bunch of those including some far away but that would be the natural path you would have taken anyway so you would have known. There's also weird pauses in the cutscenes, like after someone talks it pauses for waaay too long, and makes the cutscene not flow as well. Overall, ok combat and story, nice puzzles and some good bosses to fight against, and a great flying mechanic, it was some fun.
this is a great game for anyone into how to train your dragons it is a bit short but a lot of fun 10/10
I played this game for 8 hours straight. I have no regrets 11/10
