I rather enjoyed this game. Feels like playing an FPS RPG. Items are placed almost like health pickups and ammo in an old Boomer Shooter, meanwhile your Skills/Abilities open up newer areas and story/lore tidbits. I found I quite enjoyed this. PROS: - Short, but not too short. The game respects your time. - Fun exploration. The world is small compared to a AAA game, but it doesn't need to be that big. Every location had its purpose, whether small or big. Plus everything you see you can visit at some point. - The game does not punish you for not specializing your build, there's enough "Delusions" (how you level up) that you can spread out your skills decently so, and items help make up for where you're lacking. I maybe missed two items from not specking in the Lore stat, and missed one major "Charm" opportunity from not maxing out the Persona stat. - Unique setting with good art direction. It is not another generic fantasy world with elves, dwarves, and other such things. The only traditional fantasy creature I found was goblins, and unless you knew they were called goblins you wouldn't be able to tell from their looks. CONS: - Game is very easy, only died once and it was an unavoidable death (You'll know what I'm talking about if you play the game). Health potions are VERY common, and I had an effectively bottomless stash of them in my inventory. Characters will tell you how dangerous somebody or someplace is, and I'd get through just fine. - Some story moments are very "why should I care?".
When the Grand Confessor tells you to kill her Godlet friend, and her ghost tells you not to. I just shrugged my shoulders and killed it. Perhaps if there was more to the Godlet or the relation between the two than a few dialogue boxes during the quest
. - There needs to be more music. The songs that are there are great, but there is only one song per region, only changing during story beats or special dungeons. Even then they'd use a track you'd heard before. NEUTRAL: - Game is rather simple. I don't mean that as a bad thing, I really liked that the game didn't have ten hundred different builds, meta-maxing items, or skill trees within skill trees. A game like this doesn't need all that stuff so it was fine by me, but I know some people may find it lacking. Good game that Lovely Hellplace should be proud of, and I am excited to see what they'll make in the future.

A tentatively positive review. Overall this game is worth playing, but it is far from perfect. I’ll keep this brief. Firstly, the Positives - The art design of the world is fantastic. I did turn off the overly blurry grain so it was a bit sharper though. - The world they have built is genuinely a fascinating one. There’s an incredible sense of history and mystery to the world. - The writing is generally really, really good weaving short stories in throughout the world setting. - The quests are generally decent narratively. - there is a good sense of wonder and exploration, and they do a good job of rewarding you for exploring. - The music is fantastic for the most part. - i really like it when open world games have mini-narratives confined to areas. For example the clockwork kingdom and Endless regions having their own self-contained mystery, storylines, vibe and history. Really breaks the game up and stops it feeling stale. - the skill system. This is more of a neutral, but i liked the idea of having different ways to complete tasks depending on how you spec into them, even though it is a little arbitrary. Now for the Bad - The combat is really weak. I’m actually baffled they a game so lovingly crafted had so little time put into the combat. There are barely any weapons, and they mostly feel the same. Combat is the same with every enemy and their AI is almost identical. The most interesting enemy in the game is literally the soldiers in the first area, as they heal themselves, and have shields. - The game is so incredibly easy. Even on hard. There is no challenge to the combat at all, and you can literally just run past every enemy if you want and it wont matter. - magic is pretty much useless outside of utility - Items/inventory/skills. Constantly changing clothing and trinkets to pass skill checks just isn’t fun. The item menu is tedious to navigate and weirdly confusing for how few items there are too. - Traversal/the map. I understand they were taking the morrowind route and not relying on quest markers, which is great for the most part. But then they don’t mark the names of place on the map, so it’s easy to forget where the hell places are. They make the compass a seperate item you need to use, which is annoying. - the lack of fast travel! I enjoy exploring, i don’t mind not using fast travel sometimes, but half the missions have you visit an area, then go back, then go to that area again, then to somewhere else you’ve been. - the fast travel options are so inconvenient that they are barely worth using. The only one i used was the magic to warp you back to your last crystal. Because it’s so inconvenient to find a warp point. (Until you get the airship) - The game is too long. Theres a point i thought the game was about to end (you know which part) and then it throws you back to the world map. Honestly, it didn’t need it. I was happy with it ending there. Overall, despite sounding negative, the world is fun to explore, great writing and world building; just expect a little bit of annoying traversal and very basic combat. 7.5/10
i really tried to give it a shot. everyone in real life and on the internet were telling "you should definitely play it, the lore and style is so good you won't even notice any other problems, it's just great". but this game is made so poorly in every aspect (except lore i guess) that i just can't help myself, it's not playable. there's nothing to do in this game, it feels like someone's gamedev college project, surely not like a complete product. in addition there's no actual role-playing, progression, equipment, magic, game mechanics, i can go on. in short, there's nothing in this game really, even almost no sounds. with this game i experienced, perhaps, the most no-gameplay gameplay after visual novels. technically, it was one of the worst and poorest games i've ever played. i hope they will release part two tho, it has potential.
Game is broken. Can't play on Steam Deck even though it has the green checkmark. Literally get stuck in an inescapable locked scenario any time I enter dialogue. And no, I did not change my controller bindings.
Pretty good stories, the devs should stop with that new JRPG nonsense and come back to fix combat for a sequel to this
Few "Morrowind-likes" games have stuck with me like this one has. It has its flaws, the mechanical side of the RP is shallow and you will be a thief or mage, or you can pretend to be a tank if you are willing to be a slow thief. But the story? It is something special. And the music? its something magical. Well worth the time if this type of game tickles your fancy.
I really want to love this game, but the existence of a bug while using controller that 1) breaks not only dialogue menus and can softlock the game until you hard-quit and restart, 2) can lock up your ability to even navigate other menus like the quest log properly, and 3) requires a really inconvenient 'solution' to restart the game and doesn't even reliably fix the problem? Kind of a dealbreaker. Really hope they fix this soon but it's apparently been a known problem since earlier in 2026, so I don't know how hopeful to be.
Review for the first 15-20 hours: I lose myself in the game. I pour a glass of wine and go wandering for a couple of hours. Look into the distance and wonder whats over there, then go there and find out. The depth of lore, world building, and imagination is really what stands out. Review for 20+ hours: The magic starts to lose itself in a depressing, dystopian world. The green mushrooms start blending into grey metal and I want to get out. On top of that, quests start becoming repetitive and drag on. If only the game quit halfway and didnt stray from the screenshots too much, it wouldve been beautiful Overall, it has so much to offer from a small indie team, and I still highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys PS1-style rpgs.
Yes very much, story excellent, gameplay surprisingly varied, aesthetics on the level of shrooms.
