To find this game at such a deep discount (under $1 on sale) and witness how much fun it is feels like I found a $20 bill on sale for a buck at a dollar store. I love action RPGs, and this one if both unique and oozes quality, heart, and obvious massive effort by the developer(s). It's sad to see that they don't have any other games on Steam since this one launched over four years ago now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcyOTaxnZDU The combat is fluid and fun. The enemies relentless and varied, and the fact that every weapon you'll find offers its own unique special combat strike makes this game a sheer pleasure to play! I scored this game at a whopping 95% which made it a "Zaxtor's Discovered Gem" on my channel. Highly recommended, even at full price if you love indie action RPG games.
At time of writing, I don't actually remember purchasing this game, nor playing it. Still, the pitch was rather gripping, so I booted it back up to give it a shot. Initial impressions, it has an option for 4k monitors, which is what I'm playing on, for UI scaling to make things legible. I struggle with this oh so often, so it was rather nice to see. The game even appears to get rare, yearly updates for bugfixes and maintenance, which is nicely commendable. You can see the budget and indie-ness right off with how the graphics are a little jarring - blocky, cube-based maps clashing with 3d models. Music with the habit of looping from the beginning each time you tab out and back in. Crates that when broken, give a squishy, fleshy sound. The sound design obviously wasn't the focus, either, Same meaty sound from breaking crates when you hit enemies, grunts whenever an enemy is hit that aren't the best sounding and are kind of offputting with how frequent... The intro into the first mission didn't leave the best impression either, with the text seeming bugged as it would cut seemingly cut itself off (maybe a glitch with the 4K?) and framerate dropping when a lot of particle effects entered the screen. But once I got into the combat, that didn't really matter as much. Responsive and enjoyable with a seemingly endless variety of weapons being fed to me to try (some were simply variations on the same kit, but still had enough change in how they handled to feel rather different) with quick combat and a decent amount of tactical depth to get used to in how you position and kite. Lovely quality of life like a small heal after each combat so that if you play well, you can make up for past mistakes. Interrupts onto enemy casts with windups, an upgrade system so you can take gear that you've found that you like with you as far as you want to - a lot of thought and care seems to have gone into the gameplay side of things such that the smaller gripes with the visuals and sound don't quite interfere, because it just plays so satisfyingly. The bosses will also seem to always give you the gear they use, so if you like how they fought you - you can now use that against your enemies! The level design is a bit uninspired and not very interesting to fight in, but it serves its purpose fine. Still, there's bugs and mishaps that did detract. On question mark rooms, the 4k interface scaling didn't seem to apply, so whenever there was a random event I simply couldn't read it. I tab in and out a lot, so the music looping on and off whenever I tab back in from the start was very irksome. Stealing from the merchant feels like there's absolutely no downside; I can chew through him so fast, and once I'm done purchasing and upgrading him, I can just use him for experience and a bit of extra, free loot and the merchant on the next floor seems none the wiser. But for £5.80 off sale, and likely even cheaper on, I'd have no issue recommending it if the graphics and lacklustre sound design don't put you off. It plays well, and I'll likely go on to finish this. This review is part of an ongoing project to go through my library and give every single one paid or notable game a fair assessment and a small written review to go along with them. This is #2 out of #1937, at the time of writing.
Feels mediocre to me. Not recommended. Play Diablo, Sacred, Gauntlet or other top down hack & slash games.
REALLY GOOD! suprising hidden gem here on steam. It's a top down rpg and it plays like a dungeon-crawling moba. Combat is really satisfying. Progression is great as well.

Can't really recommend here's why... First off I bought this on sale. 66% off... what a Deal! There is 4 chapters of play, with 4 levels in each chapter. Items are very bland and generic, and you can just upgrade them in the "outpost" and gold is so easy to get you will always have them maxed out, I'm pretty sure I used the same set of gear from my first run threw as I did up threw newgame+4.... Had a weapon with Bleed and Thundering, and a trinket with lifesteal it was over from there on everyone was smacked around like it was nothing, And there was no way for me to get weaker, I just had to stop at a outpost and upgrade my gear to my new max... I wish this was more then it is, because I kind of like it, but at the same time there is to much and to little going on at the same time.. There Is to little- Item variance - So many of the weapons do the same thing.... Levels - 4 Chapters, 4 levels each, Did I just pay for a demo?? Enemys - There's only 3 max enemies in each room... Build variances - After I got my first good weapon I couldn't find anything that could even come close to me considering replacing it with 6.7hrs isn't totally correct, I left the game running while I went to watch Tv and while I ate dinner... I wish this had more of a Dungeoneering skill vibe with puzzle to complete like real puzzles... I 100%'d this way to fast...
This game is great. An incredible amount of different weapons and enhencements. Active combat, lore with a DRAGON and UNDEAD DWARFS! An ultimate boss drops an ultimate weapon, but still it will never beat the big big sword... Why? Cuz the game includes a variety of playstyles. You can make every weapon OP and you can switch between ranged and melee weapons with a simple press of a button. One second you are shreding enemies like Wolvorine and in the next you summon orbs of mana with your amulet and take your bow, pull the string, charge your shot and kill the enemy. You also have an incredible dodge mechanic that makes sure you have no problem getting close to enemies with melee or simply teleporting using blink or your dagger's ability or one such abillity on the shoes... The only thing this game lacks is the graphics, however it more than makes up for it with the dynamic style and artistic pictures at needed times for better immersion. I recommend this game to anyone who likes action rpgs and wishes to build an unique character.
Bought for online co-op based on longstanding promises and store claims, but this game has never supported co-op. It is strictly a single-player experience.
A nice little rogue-like game that has quite a bit of difficulty, but also quite a bit of cheese to use. There's lots of strategies, but I think my favorite is using Claws + Shielding + Rejuvination with a Shield trinket with the same Augments. It's quite nice.
