This game is wonderful. I explored the entire dungeon and beat the Dragon in a single 3h sitting, but I really think this team can make an incredible full-sized game. Thanks for the great experience!
A $5, not recommending this makes me feel like the biggest prick on Earth, but when they say this is "a microgame" they really do mean that. Most of my time spent here was done less out of the intrinsic motivation provided by the game's mechanics and more out of me wondering to myself, "Is that it?". You wander around a maze, randomly encounter invisible enemies on tiles, and then pay some amount of HP and time autobattling them to grind money and XP. Once you're low on health, sprint back to town, level up, and repeat this process until you can go from the start of the maze to the end of the maze without dying. In terms of player involvement, the main two decisions being made here are "when to run back" and "how to get to the dragon". This does give some degree of investment in terms of like, making a mental map of how many steps you go this way and that way to get to the dragon's lair as quickly as possible, but it does mean mooooost of your (or at least my) time is spent looking at the map in the upper left corner. This is kind of a shame, because I think the portrait art is easily the best part of the game. In fact, I'd probably think this was more worth the money if it was a shorter maze (15 x 15) with like, little dialogue pop-ups characterizing your party members. Why's the Gnome there? He's cute.
Nice little grid-based retro dungeon crawler, very simple and not much depth to the mechanics, gameplay, or even the story, but the art and the music are very cool.
Simple, yet enjoyable dungeon crawler. The music, art, sounds, and gameplay compliment each other to create a unique "retro" experience. I do wish for more games from the dev(s)
I don't have much time to invest in games these days and needed something fun without all the overwhelming baggage. This was exactly it. Gameplay is straightforward and simple. The character artwork is nice. The music is wonderful. It's a short game but highly enjoyable for someone like me.
Enjoyed this a lot! Looking at Dragon Ruins 2 now. Thanks for the game!
There's not much to this game but its pretty sick for what it is. The soundtrack is mainly made up of some cool ambient pieces that just make the whole thing a vibe. The art is so cool too I think that's worth mentioning anyway I gotta play the sequel cause it has a monkey in it.
fun lil game, you can play this with half your brain turned off. nice music, pretty designs, very simple but fun gameplay. it scales well in the original, remix is a little challange but doable.
Very cute art, just don't come in expecting an actual RPG. There really isn't anything there mechanically, but it's a great game to play while doing something else or waiting. Nice vibes.
Wizardry for people who play Vampire Survivours.
