it's a decent hidden object game. there are some things QoL things that would help like hints or level select, but for less than $2 it's a good deal

short and sweet, well worth the money if you like hidden object games. some of the items are a little difficult, but overall not bad.
Enjoyed playing this game to unwind after a long day. There are many levels to enjoy with no time constrants, which allows you to take your time go with the flow, and bop to the tunes while playing. I can see this being great for both adults and kids alike. This is a simple, no fuss game as described. Would recommend!
I find hidden object games so relaxing!
Nice, calming game. Basic but that's it all needs to be. It's a nice, chill game, but has some control issues with sensitivity.
I enjoy this game a lot until I get stuck at the upper levels. There is no hint button. I am stuck on level 77 and have clicked everything and there is one item that I was missing. So it get's a bit frustrating. I re-started it several times but... I also don't like the music.
Double Detective, developed and published by 626 Interactive, is a calm, observation-driven puzzle game that takes the familiar “spot the difference” concept and refines it into a clean, focused experience. Rather than expanding the formula with complex systems or narrative layers, it leans into simplicity, offering a series of carefully designed visual challenges that reward patience and attention to detail. The result is a game that feels intentionally small in scope, but polished within the boundaries it sets for itself. The core gameplay revolves around comparing two nearly identical isometric scenes and identifying the differences between them. Each level presents a compact, diorama-like environment filled with objects and subtle variations. Players must scan both versions of the scene, looking for inconsistencies that can range from obvious changes to extremely minor details. The isometric perspective gives each puzzle a sense of depth, encouraging players to think in terms of spatial relationships rather than simply comparing flat images. This adds a slight layer of complexity to an otherwise straightforward mechanic, making the process of observation more engaging. What makes the experience work is its pacing. There is no meaningful time pressure, allowing players to take as long as they need to carefully examine each scene. This creates a relaxed, almost meditative rhythm where the focus is entirely on observation rather than performance. As the game progresses, the differences become more subtle, requiring a sharper eye and greater concentration. However, the difficulty never spikes dramatically, maintaining a consistent level of challenge that feels accessible without becoming trivial. The visual design plays a significant role in supporting the gameplay. Each environment is constructed with clarity in mind, using simple but effective color palettes and object placement to ensure that differences are discoverable without being obscured by unnecessary detail. The diorama-style presentation gives each level a distinct identity, making them feel like small, self-contained worlds. This approach not only enhances readability but also adds a sense of charm to the experience, even though the overall aesthetic remains minimalistic. Despite its strengths, the game’s commitment to simplicity also limits its long-term appeal. The core mechanic remains unchanged throughout, and there are no additional modes, systems, or variations to significantly alter the experience. While the increasing subtlety of the puzzles provides some progression, the gameplay loop itself does not evolve. This can lead to a sense of repetition, particularly for players who engage with the game for extended periods rather than in short sessions. The lack of broader progression systems or incentives further reinforces this limitation. There are no major unlockables or alternate ways to approach the puzzles, and once all levels have been completed, there is little reason to return. The game is clearly designed as a contained experience rather than one intended for ongoing play, which may be a drawback for players looking for more depth or replay value. Even so, Double Detective succeeds in delivering a cohesive and well-executed puzzle experience within its chosen scope. It provides a consistent loop that is easy to understand and satisfying to engage with, particularly for those who enjoy detail-oriented challenges. Its strength lies in its clarity and focus, offering a straightforward experience that does not overcomplicate its design. Ultimately, Double Detective is best suited for players seeking a relaxed, low-pressure puzzle game that emphasizes observation over complexity. It doesn’t aim to push the boundaries of the genre, but it executes its core idea with care and precision. While its simplicity may limit its appeal for some, it offers a pleasant and thoughtfully designed experience for those who appreciate its approach. Rating: 7/10
