While limited progress tracking and puzzle resets can be frustrating, shortcuts and the game's overall ease still invite you to play it until the end. The latest entry in the Doors puzzle series follows the same simple premise—choosing the correct door based on a rule. Each puzzle plays out in a small room with four unmarked doors and a single rule displayed on a screen, tablet, or another surface. The rule is always crystal clear, explicitly stating which door to take. However, the doors themselves lack obvious labels, meaning you must gather clues from the environment to deduce which door corresponds to the four numbers. After a brief tutorial, which cleverly demonstrates that clues can trick you, you’re set loose in a beautifully world, lush with colorful nature, reflective waters, and an imposing tower in the distance. Your task is to navigate the web of door-based puzzles and reach the summit. Doors are grouped into distinct sections, each introducing new rules. One set of puzzles might revolve around blocks, another might involve word, while others could integrate chess patterns or some other logic. While you’re rarely left completely stranded thanks to the presence of hint terminals, the game still demands some use of your brain. What makes progression interesting is that the game isn’t strictly linear. At times, you’ll have the option to choose which puzzle to tackle next, and each completed puzzle rewards you with a puzzle piece. These pieces—69 in total, plus five hidden ones—are crucial for unlocking key gates, where you’ll need to assemble an easy jigsaw puzzle to proceed. Jigsaw images show a clue about the secret puzzle pieces, but you still need the secret key that is only shown near the end of the game. However, there’s a catch: if you make the wrong choice in a puzzle, you’ll be sent back to the last checkpoint or all the way to the starting point, forcing you to retry the section. And just when you think you can breeze through by memorizing past solutions, the game shakes things up—door rules change upon resets, preventing brute-force solutions. While the game does a good job of keeping things fair, one of its biggest frustrations is tracking down missing pieces. There’s only general progress tracking, so if you miss a piece in a particular section, you may find yourself going through old puzzles again. Thankfully, the developers anticipated this potential frustration and introduced portal shortcuts as you progress. These serve as fast-travel points, preventing the experience from feeling too punishing when mistakes happen. However, you will still have to re-solve entire sections to get to a lost piece in some dead end. Before you reach the true ending, the game brings several puzzles lifted straight from previous Doors entries. If you’re new, like me, these challenges might seem cryptic, as they rely on established mechanics from earlier games. The story remains shrouded in mystery. Sparse dialogue from an unseen entity hints at a larger narrative, but without context from previous games, it’s difficult to piece together. What is clear, though, is that you’re trapped in some kind of simulation.
Clever games curator review: 6.5/10 Logic puzzler with strong Witness vibes both visually AND in terms of teaching you the rules by only example. Differs in one huge way, though: for every puzzle there's ONLY 4 answers. EG sign says "pick left door" but they mean the door that says "left", which is really on the right. In order to prevent brute force guessing they have to penalize you somehow for guessing wrong, and they do that by forcing you to start the level/section over FROM SCRATCH every time you guess wrong. I get it, some penalty is required, but I feel this is just too steep. Sure it gets faster to solve each puzzle with repetition, but sill there's so much time spent redoing an area once you get to the hardest (and last) puzzles. It just stops being fun for me, personally. Other issues contribute -1/2 to the score: no controller support, no invert y(!!!) & distracting dark halos around everything which feels like an attempt to simulate real lighting, gone very wrong. Still there's enough going for this that I can recommend it fully to people who don't mind the restart penalty for guessing wrong. Just be really sure you don't mind repeating solved puzzles *a lot*.
Приятная игра во всех смыслах, радует глаз, ухо и мозг. Местами бесит, но, это тоже полезно для встряски залежавшихся нервов. Советую всем, кто любит размять свои извилины и повысить свою самооценку. A pleasant game in every sense, pleasing to the eye, ear, and mind. At times it can be annoying, but that's also useful for shaking up stagnant nerves. I recommend it to everyone who enjoys stretching their brains and boosting their self-esteem.
I really enjoyed the previous Door games, but this one by comparison was horrible, the puzzles felt almost entirely arbitrary and every time you make a mistake you have to start that entire section over again. I managed to get most of the way through the game (I think, going off of the shortcut portals, I could be wrong) before I finally just gave up because I got tired of having to re-solve the same puzzles over and over again because the game forced me to brute force my way through some obtuse puzzle mechanic.
Get the Puzzle right the first try or start from the beginning. The puzzles are either really easy or confusingly difficult. The gameplay is extremely repetitive. Do not buy this.
The game plays great! It's just like Door 1 and Door 3; there is very little jank, and the puzzles are of varying difficulty. The tutorial area is perhaps the best of all Door games. Technically, this looks and feels better and stronger. In the tutorial, I was a little worried that it might be too easy, but it's not -- and all the puzzles feel like they make sense. The color and style look beautiful, too, and I enjoy the music, too. This is the first time in many years that I bought a game on launch day, refreshing Steam Store until it became available. Worth it. Haven't finished the game yet (maybe 3/4 of the way through, I'm guessing, based on the puzzle piece indicators), but what I've played already has been great!
I'm always excited for the next chapter of Door Game. The 4th part wasn’t the best, but I would give it a solid 7/10, considering the second part was 10/10 and the third was 8/10. The graphics are very beautiful, and the music is good. However, some puzzles with dots have no logic (in my opinion). I wasn't able to solve them even with a hint on the board. Maybe I'm not so smart :) Good puzzles with chess, and I especially liked when I was transferred to the locations from the previous games — great idea! I even noticed a label in Russian :) Invisible walls make the game less interesting for me. But I found two places where I could squeeze through and get over a barrier, allowing me to explore the whole world without any limitations. I liked this a lot in previous chapters. Easter eggs in out-of-bounds locations are preferred. This game could be much more interesting with a better lore, like in the previous chapters. Also, my advice: you could create some new puzzles based on card games (like you did with chess), or some geographic puzzles, or astrology, etc. Dear dev team, I wish you good luck with your next projects/DLC. I will be glad to help if you need any support with my favourite Door Games :)
Im sorry but I think this game is jst not interesting, either you understand the logic or you dont, there no way to "find" the solution, this is not a puzzle.
