If you have seen the TV game show, Hole in the Wall, this game is like that. It works fine. Seems to go on for as long as you can last. You can cheat at it as you can put your legs anywhere (not sure if Vive trackers will be supported). You also can put your hands or head almost anywhere that'll fit (you don't need to follow the cutout exactly). However, it's definitely more fun if you try to follow along exactly and it's probably also more fun with a group of friends and lots of alcohol. It's free so I definitely recommend it. Rate 6/10. For anyone out there that doesn't remember, Hole in the Wall was a pretty popular game show that ran for four seasons, from 2008-2012. It was one of those shows that you'd want to be on with your best buds, and all it involved was getting you and your partner's bodies through different shapes on a wall that's coming toward you. That's what Dodge the Wall! attempts to offer up in a free VR release. Right now this game is in Early Access, and it hasn't even been out for a month yet. It has already received one update from its developer, Space Dog XR, which added a scaling difficulty that makes the walls come faster the more you progress. While this is a good start, there's a serious lack of wall designs, no music, one pretty boring stage area, and overall the game just doesn't offer up the fun of the series that it was based on. You move your hands (controllers) and head (HMD) to line up with the holes, most of which don't really make sense for this game, and it's hard to judge the distance. Hopefully soon the developer can at least add a better stage area and new, better, more fitting walls to Dodge the Wall! For a party game, the lack of music is also really uninspiring and quickly turns the experience dull. It's best to bypass this free download and wait until a few more updates have been released in the meantime. This could easily pass for a $5 CAD game if there was just more content, and perhaps two or three game modes. Players would also benefit from being able to see their shadows on the wall for better alignment, maybe on an easier difficulty or just as an on/off option. "Dodge the Wall!" is a pointless abandoned VR tech demo where you just have to wave your arms around to make it look like you will fit through various gaps in walls that move at you. Yeah, this is a bad idea implemented badly. What do you do in the game? Wave your arms around in VR. The developers abandoned this 6 years and 8 months ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games. This feels more like a tech demo or a project smacked together hurriedly to try make a kind of minimum viable product just good enough to pass the developers unambitious idea and shove it into Steam Direct to see if you can actually pay $100 and publish junk through Steam Direct. Yeah, you can. Is this good for gamers? Nope. In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D graphics which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend bad looking games. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. This game is fairly dated at 7 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. So this is "free", but it's abandoned. Worse, it was never intended to be free. The developer intended to charge for this if it ever left Early Access... but the developer just couldn't be bothered. Making this abandoned pollution that gamers need to filter through when searching for products made by more ethical developers who fulfill their promise to deliver on their Early Access commitment instead of breaking that promise. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 130 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB shows this peaked at only 10 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Given that this free game won't increase your game collector count, is it worth your time to add it to your library? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. There's no financial cost up-front, but you'd still be spending your time and a little hard drive space on a product that's far from the best. There's thousands of better alternatives on Steam.
Dodge the Wall! is a free Early Access VR game. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Has 1 background music track, but the Start menu has a music on / off lever. This game is like the TV game show Hole in the Wall and it does look better than the game Hot Squat. You also have poseable hands even with the standard Vive controllers. You have some challenging holes to go through and have to make sure your hands and head don't hit the wall. It speeds up a fraction after a wave of walls. You gain score by grabbing coins with your head and hands as you pass through a hole in the wall. I guess the devs listened to the initial negative reviews and made some changes on the last update, compared to the release of the game. Try this game, you might like it.
Eğer TV yarışma programı Hole in the Wall'u izlediyseniz bu oyun da böyledir.
