Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.43/day in the week to Jul 23 → 1.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
Could be fun...the UI and lack of quality of life makes this game very tedious.
AI automation is utterly useless. Constantly making terrible decisions, whether about diplomacy or construction or something else. God forbid you automate your military expect to have 20 fleets sitting on one planet doing nothing while 5 of your planets get taken.

I just don't like it... its the ultimate time waster of clicking close on an endless slew of message updates. It doesnt give you time to do anything for yourself. It is very good about making the day fly by, but I cant say its enjoyable doing so... It doesnt feel at all like the previous game. Sure it looks like it on the surface, and it has the same concepts... But its just not accomplishing the same feel. At all.
Severely underrated. There's so much to love here. Don't expect Stellaris. This is way more simulation driven. Kinda like X4 foundations on an actual galactic scale.
I love this game, it's great but i cannot recommend it at all. It's a unpolished gem for sure, it has all the things going for it to make it a great addition to the 4x sci-fi category with it's micromanagement systems and game design. This is also the part the saddens me extremely in not being able to recommend it to others, the game is poorly optimized and the AI that you can use to help manage your empire isnt much of any help at all. Compared to the enemy AI it truly doesn't do a good job at all as it just spends all your cash whenever it can, it fails to prioritize fleet actions properly and it's auto generation of ship designs leaves much to be expected of it. As for my comment on optimization, well it might as well not exist. There are options for galaxy size: 300, 500, 700, 1000, 1500, 2000. So far, so good, too bad if you wanna play on anything above 500 into late game you gotta play the game like it's from the 80's without any fluid movement and all moving dots on the screen might as well be 8-bit. THIS is my biggest gripe and i have NEVER been able to finish any of my started games without quitting after it reaches late mid-game or late-game cause of how the game runs, and it's not my machine since the power it uses doesn't increase or decrease from early game to late game in any meaningful way. As i said, i personally love this game but since i as a person who love it cant bring myself to finish one of the started games i have running, i can't for the life of me recommend this game to others who might not like the game as much as i do, cause unless you love micromanaging and everything and pausing the game every 1-2 minutes or every 2 seconds while at war cause the AI cause exluding a couple of things, the players AI advisor doesnt do your space empire any justice at all. 4/10, great game design, great concept, annoying that the AI isnt helpful in much of what it does and just the feeling of bad optimization when it comes to what i expect to be the engine itself with the games getting slowed down to what i feel to be a unplayable degree.
Distant Worlds 2 struggles to provide an enjoyable experience. Navigating the map feels clunky and at times outright broken. Waging war against the AI is particularly frustrating, as the AI can jump anywhere within your empire, making defense an overly tedious and unrewarding task. Additionally, the constant spam of message alerts becomes a major annoyance, and the lack of an option to disable or filter them only exacerbates the issue.

Distant Worlds 2 is a real-time 4X space strategy game that builds upon its predecessor's expansive universe. The game features a vast galaxy with thousands of stars, each accompanied by planets, moons, and asteroid fields. Players can engage in activities such as resource mining, infrastructure expansion, and colonization. A notable aspect is the "private economy," where AI-controlled ships handle mining and transportation, adding depth to the logistical simulation. The game offers extensive automation options, allowing players to delegate tasks they prefer not to manage directly. This flexibility enables focus on specific aspects of empire-building while the AI handles others. The transition to a 64-bit, multi-threaded 3D engine has enhanced performance and visual appeal, with distinct ship designs for each faction and more dynamic interactions, such as ships docking at starports and deploying shuttles to planets or debris. However, Distant Worlds 2 has a steep learning curve. Some players have encountered bugs that impact gameplay, and the complexity may be daunting for newcomers to the 4X genre. Despite these challenges, the game's depth and automation features have been praised, offering a rich experience for dedicated fans. In summary, Distant Worlds 2 provides an intricate and immersive space strategy experience, appealing to players who appreciate complex simulations and are willing to invest time to master its systems. It's fun for people who likes a more complicated space 4X game than the Stellaris. Don't have the energy to write a comprehensive review, but I think I should at least give a crude recommendation first after 400 hours into the game.
