GAME OF THE YEAR BABY!!!
la cuspide para el juego de grindeo perfecto
Well the short version of the review is yes, I like this game, like 8/10. The long version is, this game is a good Disgaea game, it has many improvements made to it from prior games and some of its own. But the game has some flaws, it has a bug on the start screen that makes the intro a black screen, and editing the files to skip the animation makes the game ugly for some reason, like, the resolution gets all messed up. The game has poor keybinding reconfiguration, you can change them, but not all of them some stay even if you change the button it uses, so if you want to change them tough luck But about gameplay flaws I'd say that altough being like a tradition at this point, I would like for the game to have more complex cutscenes, like its alright the scenes being made with the ingame characters, but they been like this since the Ps2, and I know, comparatively the attack animations are fantastic, but if you know disgaea you know that somewhere along the line you will disable them, leaving that aspect of cutscenes on the game lacking a bit. There is not much variety on builds coming from equipments, since the emblems have all stats with them and have them in greater quantities than even the specialized itens like the belt or the glasses, you dont really use them, and it gets worse on the lategame where not all ultimate versions of the items have unique effects, the 5% crit from the last glasses and the 1 extra counter that not even the last version of the belt have is one along the way, is not making me drop the emblem with better stats. There are plenty useless innocents (btw innocents are a form of upgrade found in items you get that can give them effects such as stat boosts, ailments, elemental resistances etc...), but to understand why I need to say that all the late game bosses have immunities to some of the mechanics such as debuffs, ailments, no lifting to avoid cheesy strategies such as the classic lift the boss to make it loose a turn, charm the boss, or stunlock it, but what that means is all the innocents that gives you these effects are all useless, alongside their counterparts the ones that resist those effects because altough present, those effects don't proc most of the time and its once again best to just choose the one with highest stats, especially because you have limited space for them, that serves too for the debuff and ailment skills, wich if you think about are generally used best when you are in equal terms with the enemy or weaker, otherwise its best to just deal damage, and since the lategame bosses all are immune to it, A.K.A Baal, theres not much use to them. Once again about innocents I would love this game to have better search features for them, since at some point you *will* have to look at every item individually looking for the ones you want. I don't really like the chara world, its fun at first but it gets really repetitive, and if you want to get stronger after some point you will need to go through it, otherwise you will be missing tons of stats, plus 8 evility slots wich is basically half of your build. the game has a lot of space for items and characters but in particular the limit on characters bothers me because the game has a system wich needs characters to occupy slots, the squad system, and sure you dont use them all at the same time, but you can't create enough characters to fill all the slots for some reason, you can't min max this feature on a min max game, I believe the limit was 128 characters. But, I do like this game and I will tell you why. The story is nothing that extraordinary but is funny and charming, the art, the attack animations, the music are all great, I love the designs they are very cool, some are epic, some are sexy, some are cute, the grinding is gigantic but its really fun to use the mechanics to speed up substancially the grind if you know what you are doing. The squads are very usefull on the most part , something I did not use on my first playthrough was the netherworld exploration, but on the early game you can set it up, it gives use for the classes you don't plan on using on your final team, it gets you equipmemts you can't buy yet and even a exclusive rank 40 item, the squad for managing, improving and creating innocents is great and if you use it right you can speed up so much of your progression, and have by the mid game items that give you 100k on each stat, not to mention that on prior disgaeas you could not manage the non tamed innocents so you had to enter a ton of items you did not want to use just for the innocents, (although there is something I'm a bit bitter is that you cant stack the exp innocents after 900, not even on another stack of them, the effect dont stack, wich is sad cuz I grinded 8 stacks of 900 of them for nothing but thats a me problem I guess). the alchemy shop is great to getting some exclusive items that you usually would have very limited amounts of such as the skip floor items, the cheat shop is fantastic to customizing stuff and makes possible challenge runs and eases so much of the grind. The only thing I say is a bit meh on these shops is that since after you get the correct upgrades, the money gets a bit useless especially because the late game items all come from drops on the bonus gauge or stealing, but thats ok I guess. The Sage class alone speeds up soooooooooo much of your progression you have no Idea. There are plenty system improvements from prior games, such as the rarity system, the mastery system, the skill system. The variety lacking in the equipments you have on the evility system, wich lets you attach passives from basically all classes even the DLC characters. The main shop now is really useful, if a bit expensive at the beginning, but you can get all the items up to a point where you need to use the item world.(Earlier in the series the shop was a random assortment of items wich is not anymore) I like the Item Assembly it makes possible to create some really powerfull equipaments and give them a bit of customizability, making possible to change even the appearence and name of them wich is cool. I'm not much of a interior designer but you can change your base to look however you want in this game. I like the quest system, its a bit basic, but it can at times be useful if you get the right quests, altough most of them have lackluster rewards, such as consumable items or the reward not being worth it after the point you had to go the complete the quest, but some of the quests serve to skip some progression and get some items more consistently such as the chara world evilities wich are all luckbased to get. I like that the currency used for creating characters is money now, and the joke associated with why the system changed was funny, It gives more use to the money and can let you crate characters up to the level 7999 if I'm not mistaken, and it even lets you create them in their respective final ranks wich is neat. The prison/ redisciplinement squad lets you get absurd stat boosts and eases upgrading the other squads wich I found really useful. I could mention another bunch of small things I liked about this game but I think you get my point.Overall I really like this game even tough my back hurts from all the grinding I had to do.
Y'know, I like this game. I like the larger council options, I like revenge mode, I like the quests system, I like the improvements to ally class progression, etc. I even think the story gets better after what felt like an unbearable first chapter. What I do not like is the map looking as if it's a gust of wind from splitting apart, the intro trailer not loading anymore, and the game crashing my entire computer on a routine action. Seriously, I read that some of NiS' games were bad in glitches and optimization, but experiencing it first-hand makes me never want to buy one of their games again.
Best.
79 minutes, and the game crashed 3 times while fighting or after a mission. I didn't do a thorough research, so that's on me, but tried the methods that don't need extra software, none worked. If I have to go without audio, at a reduced performance, I'm sorry, but it's NOT a good game/port. OS: Windows 11 Home Single Language, Version 25H2 Processor: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700H (2.70 GHz) RAM: 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable) Graphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU (6 GB) Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics (128 MB) DirectX Version: 12 System Type: 64 bits, processor x64 Doubt this game will ever be patched for modern computers, I don't have more than 100+ USD to get a SteamDeck, and the 2 hours time limit is too restrictive to try. I just send my refund request, hopefully can get something else while the sale is still on and if I get a refund by then.
Put roughly 200 hours into this on the Switch but had to sell it last year to pay bills. Very glad to have it back. Please port Disgaea 3.
It's a JRPG and a strategy game with a lotta complexity... So you're spending the majority of the time mulling over menus, thinking about what to do next, but the process is pretty fun. People have described the story as being worse than Disgaea 4, but as far as I can tell it isn't bad! The writing is a little low brow and there's a lotta gag humor though, but its done well.
Grind, grind, grind, grind, grrrr
