dirtbag MAHJONG

This game makes me hate mahjong in so many new and exciting ways. It's peak, I'm afraid.

really funny character writing imo. it's gay mahjong. what more could you want.

I loved the music, the characters, the fact that it's very chill. I need more mahjong games that aren't trying to be addicting gacha stuff. This is a proper game that you can sit down, enjoy, and come back to it when you're ready.

i did not know how to play mahjong when i bought this game. i now barely understand how to play mahjong. hell yeah also the writing is outstanding. mark of quality number one: the characters have pronouns shown

So I can't really comment on how good this game is for beginners at mahjong (I've been playing for a while and didn't need to actually learn from either of the tutorials), but for people who understand the rules and want a fun twist? Absolute blast. Love the characters as well, if anything I wish we got to spend more time with them/get more storyline stuff. Even after completing the story I've come back to keep doing free play, the use of abilities to shake up typical riichi mahjong is just that fun. Definitely recommend buying it! Well worth the price especially on sale if you happen to catch it, but I'd say $10 is completely fair for the content the game has and how replayable it is. You should also buy it to fund the potential of multiplayer so I can kill my friends in mahjong it'd be so cool

I really, really want to like this game. The writing and characters and art are very entertaining and it's a great concept. Unfortunately, the dirtbag abilities are... not fun. They mostly just make the game chaotic and illegible, which is really not something riichi needed. A number of the abilities seem to be frankly self-sabotaging. If you're a huge riichi nerd who wants to really shake up the way you have to play the game, go for it. If you aren't super familiar with riichi, this seems like a really bad way to learn it.

This is the first mahjong game that has ever actually helped me learn the game. Turns out the only crutch I ever needed was the shanten counter. Being able to see how far I am from a legal hand lets me actually focus on what tiles I have, what yakus I'm working towards, and what tiles I can discard. I've become a better player thanks to this game. Also Vren a cute.

a wonderful spin on riichi mahjong just close enough to the standard game that it doesn't feel unfair or alien, but unique enough to be a spin worth experiencing all its own. the characters stand on their own and interact in deeply entertaining dialogues between games; their conversations don't feel far off from the ones i have with my own friends.
