Dinocop

I like dinosaurs and I like mystery games. I expected this to be a short adventure of about 3-4 small mysteries to solve in a comedic world of dinosaurs. Instead, I find myself wondering whether or not a modern government can fundamentally stand on centre-leaning world views that promote unity amongst stronger left and right leaning citizens without simply atrophying due to lack of substantial mobilization because some people would cut off their own nose if it would spite their face. Worth the price.

(My real playtime is 11hrs, was playing offline) I can’t stop thinking about this game. It’s something really special and I’m sad that it’s over. I just want to spend more time in this world. I love the idea of setting the game in a Dinosaur Rights convention. It’s kind of a genius way to seamlessly incorporate the worldbuilding. The convention is a perfect microcosm of the larger world, with all the conflicts and tensions represented with a great sense of humor. Everything is absurd, but very believable when you think about it. It’s easy to imagine that these kinds of conflicts would arise if intelligent dinosaurs were resurrected in the modern world, with all the difficulties of adapting and integrating into human society. But what makes this world so enjoyable to discover is the gameplay. This game plays like the town portions of Majora’s Mask, where all the NPCs follow a daily schedule and you have to follow them around to figure out various mysteries. It’s a very immersive and satisfying gameplay loop, which is elevated by the games writing, and presentation, and music. Every detail of this game is pretty much perfect for the tone and story. My only issue is the ending, which is pretty unsatisfying, but was not enough to spoil my overall experience. I desperately hope they make a sequel, or DLC, or anything Dinocop. I just want more. I think this game very much deserves its Overwhelmingly Positive score. I’m only surprised that it’s not more popular. I wish more people would give it a chance because it really is an amazing game.

Honestly it's a pretty fun game. I just can't honestly recommend it. It's extremely political, which is ok but it's set up as a joke/lighthearted game so the ending feels insane. The ending would be fine if there was a confirmed sequel that can build on it, but that sequel should be part of the base game because the story obviously isn't over. Games should be $1.00/hour of game time so 15 for 8 feels pricey. [spoiler] I also don't like stealth games so being forced into one for an ending where nothing really happens feels ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Also kinda feels like I shouldn't have wasted my time trying to get the good ending because I get all the jokes and fun without GOING TO JAIL (which is obviously not what the devs are trying to say). was always excited for this game since I found it, my type of "goofy" comedy. 10/10. Only thing I'd mention is going for 100% is tough because of replays to an otherwise amazing game.

ending unsatisfying sequel bait that makes the whole game feel pointless

Really conflicted on this one. The setup is fun and the NPC schedule system and scent tracking's really fun gimmick wise, but the ending's really odd in a way that kind of invalidates a lot. Didn't really feel like a mystery by the end of it, but it was a neat game. The writing's kinda flat as far as mysteries go but some of the jokes were solid. A lot of red herrings, and things are written in a way where you're not really rewarded for figuring things out, but rather having to check hyper specific boxes to allow you to continue even if you've already figured it out.

Fun little detective game. Buy the coffee cup in the shop, you'll need it.

A fun, weird, and charming detective game with a great sense of humor. The dinosaur-cop premise is ridiculous, but the mystery and worldbuilding are surprisingly engaging. Short, memorable, and worth playing if you like quirky indie games.

Great game. no replayability but you cant replay losing your virginity which reminds me of this game.....buy it!
