You get your dino from the left of your screen to the right side as fast as possible; jump over obstacles, duck to eat prey for quick speed boosts, get power ups, collect eggs, survive the [b]doom wall[/b]. Collect DNA from challenges and super eggs to level up your character: speed for maximum zoom, strength to climb up hills and bully boulders better, acceleration to recover momentum faster, and jump to … uh… jump! It’s really, really simple. That’s the good and bad of it fair and square. I have a soft spot for the game, so there’s a bit of bias that I’m giving into when playing this. Truth be told, it isn’t very good; the levels repeat and, outside of a few challenge levels, there isn’t much more to do. You can complete your first run in about 20 minutes and that’s it, you don’t need to do anything else, you’ve experienced the game. It’s quick, it’s not complex, and it’s painfully simple - how this relic from a bygone generation has stuck around is a mystery unto itself, but there are a few catches… https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3667932482 When I was a lot younger, I’d boot up [b]Miniclip[/b] on my grandma’s browser and play this game. I was young back then - bright eyed and full of wonder. The multiplayer was a great bash - and was embarrassingly that first “r u a boy or girl” fledgling introduction to online social interaction. In retrospect, it was a very fun and interesting time - and this game was a small part of it. I remember playing it a lot to try and grind my character (which would always reset in progress because it was in a browser) and having fun racing with other players in the multiplayer. It was a good time. A simpler time. These days it seems so long ago - ancient history - and like the [i]dinosaur[/i] I am, I keep thinking back to the good-ol-days of internet chaos. Even while trying to be objective, I just can’t. The straightforward “raptor go fast brrrr” game was such a simple little joy growing up - like a good grilled-cheese sandwich with the crust cut off. Looking back at it all, it was good where it was, and placing it in the context of the present - it almost feels barebones and over-simplified. The era of [b]Flash[/b] has come and gone - the simple days are over. Folks used to look at funny camera effects and perish from laughter, a video of a guy falling over was outrageous, and we all believed that the internet was going to make education free and all knowledge easily accessible - and we all hated [i]Twilight[/i]. Many, many, many games have been lost to the purge of [i]Flash[/i] titles, it’s amazing this wasn’t among them. If you’re looking for more than 20m to 1 hour of childish fun, you may want to give this a pass. Yet, much like that one movie your kids [b]INSIST[/b] on playing over and [i]over[/i], a curious and determined mind can get some good enjoyment out of the running raptor game No bells or whistles, thrills or shrills, it’s just a simple dinosaur like me. Not gonna blow your socks off, but then again, it’s the kind of game that’s best enjoyed wearing colorful slippers in the warmth of your childhood home. ~ [h3]TL;DR[/h3] [b]5.5/10[/b] [i]Dino Run DX[/i] is a [b]Competent[/b] game. It’s a relic from a generation of free internet games that somehow managed to survive for generations. It’s cute, simple, short, and sweet - just don’t come in expecting paradise.
