Dino Genesis

Wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. Yes the dino AI is somewhat broken and the game is definitely still janky... (hence early access) but there is potentially a pretty solid game underneath. Was really impressed by the lighting effects and the voice acting when you find audio logs. Wasn't expecting a story of any kind but the lore you hear via audio tapes is well written and left me interested in learning more about what happened. Gunplay is ok, but could be refined more. If the dev team keeps working on bug fixes and adding content I think it could really be something special. As it stands right now it's still pretty fun. soooooo i want to continue with this but I just can't. The game is was fine but once I died, the load options did nothing, there was no saves from beginning to where I was and I died and had to start again. However once starting again, I got stuck in a wall on spawn and couldnt do anything no matter how many attempts I did of shutting it down and reopening the game. 98 Redd Games, fix this issue as I would love to continue. Update: COMPLETED THE GAME, watch the full intro sequence to spawn normally, if you skip it, you get stuck in a wall. This game is a solid 7/10 due to the bugs I was having, most dinosaurs stay in place and makes it easier to not die if you stop at the right place in that moment. Big bosses can only killed in like a MAG and Half (assault rifle). I quite enjoyed it nonetheless, was pretty good for the £3 i got it for. I was good. Fun little hour playtime. Play it if you like dinosaurs.

The game has heart, and does what it's seeking to do imo. I picked it up for about £3 which I definitely got my money from. It's the devs love letter to old Dinosaur games. There are some issues - repeated asset use, large empty spaces, the damage taken hiding what you can see on the screen - but for the price point I don't think it's that bad. Plus, the developer has listened to feedback and is continually working on the game at least, so there is definitely promise here.

The next film in the Jurassic franchise has barely been released when a ton of dinosaur games pop up on Steam, most of which likely won't even leave Early Access. For some promising titles, this is a shame, but for too many, unfortunately, it's justified because they're cheap cash grabs. Dino Genesis is one such cash grab: a boring, carelessly tacked-on dinosaur shooter that throws in a few giant spiders for good measure. Graphically, it should even run on Windows 98; the level design is boring and repetitive. The dinosaurs' animations just consist of walking, and they stubbornly walk towards the player. They often get stuck, whether because of something on the floor or a lamp hanging from the ceiling. In terms of price, you might think that at €6, that's pretty cheap, but even that's far too expensive; there are much better alternatives.

Truly awful experience. The A.I is completely broken and the levels are monotonous. You will be disappointed.
