This is a hidden gem of a roguelike that I'm very happy was recommended to me. The basic mechanic is you start with a set of five dice that you automatically role at the start of a turn, with two rerolls and the option to lock the dice you want to keep. You start with a team of two minions and a relic generally, each minion has a dice requirement to attack, after which they level up. Each time a minion levels up they gain a new ability along with increased damage of their attack. For example a chain ability lets you also attack with any adjacent minion, so if you plan well you can get these crazy turns where your entire board is attacking and buffing each other. The ability they get with their attack changes each level but if you hover on a minions you can see what each level will give them. After a minion attacks at level 6 they escape hell and leave your party, leaving you with a few powerful single use potions in their stead. So you gotta attack sparingly and plan how many bosses you have left in the run, lest you lose your most powerful asset before the last fight. There's 9 bosses in a run and each boss you get three full turns to beat, so you really can't waste any turns but the pacing is quite well balanced and I'm almost always feeling pretty well equipped for the damage requirement. Paired with surprisingly banging tunes. After each boss you get some gold and a shop to spend it. Where you buy minions, items and relics. Relics affect your whole team, like giving an extra dice. While items can be put on minions, giving them various stat buffs. You get a hang of the mechanics after a run or two, and it leads to quite a lot of build diversity, with very impactful synergies throughout. I find myself hopping on for a quick demon or two to kill time in place of some of my more time consuming regular options quite often. TLDR/why I wrote this review - I just finished a run on the fifth difficulty with over 4000 excess damage on the final boss, which genuinely was the most satisfying op run feeling I've gotten in a while. So if you're a fan of roguelikes I'd definitely recommend giving this a shot. A quick suggestion for the devs. I am a sucker for achievements, and would love to have a few more added to the earlier stages of the game. Thanks for the awesome game!
This is a great game for folks who like Balatro or Loot Rascal style roguelikes but want a bit more thinky complexity (but not an overwhelming amount). Figuring out how to optimize position-based buff and create effective chains is super satisfying.
This game is like no other - something like Yahtzee meets FF Tactics. There are millions of combos and build to explore, and do many difficulty levels, it will keep you busy, puzzling your brain until it melts. Definitely worth giving a try!
Clever roguelike with a combat mechanic that doesn't rely on managing health. Only damage! The uncertainty of how you will pull through seems to be present with each turn but with some luck mitigation and enough re-rolls, lower difficulties become fairly straightforward after practice.
Raw, but some nice systems here to play with. Worth a try.
Pretty fun game if you enjoy being tactical and really having to think ahead and problem-solve your way to victory. Wouldn't call it easy/simple but it's definitely satisfying when you finally win :).
Other than a couple hiccups in the English translation, very good game. Might need a little more options in the randomization, but overall a good, short-session rougelike.
Addictive ... quick to learn ... fun in the realm of Despot Game
I'm almost ashamed about getting it for 1,24€ during the sale. This is a steal and a must buy!
sehr cool !
