Absolute blast to play. need more characters though.
Vs death is fine, mostly, pinnacles are horrible, AI doesn't know how to play the builds it is playing, some matchups are impossible, with all the RNG you can get, with restarting until perfect start (because of 9000 IQ design decision to tie rerolling to a single item), every route available (around 90% items unlocked), which I have been doing for the past 6 hours (soldier 1 vs healer), cannot be done. I'm also 99% sure the rolls are not random, can't be bothered to write anecdotes but my pattern recognition is pretty solid at this point. There is also eternity or whatever it's called, which I never actually played, that should probably be the core infinite-loop mode, which I don't see a reason to play without everything unlocked, because of my past experiences of getting bent while my opponents pick a 3rd legendary dice out of their rectum in 6th round (pretty sure it's impossible for player to even find one in the pool that early), with every exact item to counter whatever I build, and that grind consists of beating either death or a matchup you know you'll win for like 50ish times, obviously not happening at this point. As it is now - nope.
Sadly, not worth it. The premise is neat for a dice game but the interface is in no way intuitive (and the in-game explanation is about trinkets only, not strategies, so you just have to lose a lot to get the hang of it). The path is singular; the opening menu says "choose" but you don't get to choose anything about your character until you beat several levels, so you're going to be hanging out as the soldier for a while. The artistry is good but the game itself is too much sleuthing for me. Death can keep the dice, I'm uniterested.
