Pretty fun game with another graduating challenge to keep it fresh and interesting. Some words are easier to make a connection to the case then others, some have no clues to help you with what they want. And it doesn't really feel as though you are solving anything in the case itself, the character does that for you. The conclusion didn't really feel like much a conclusion or ending. Despite this, I do recommend it if you want a good short game and enjoy playing Wordle.

挺難的
Great game, good use of puzzles. No dumb supernatural story about how the puzzles save the world, it's just a fun puzzle game with a mystery story. Mechanics of the game work great, the typewriter that lets you remove invalid letters is exceptional, better than any similar puzzle game I've played
Overall the game is fine. You need to guess a word, you get 7 attempts, and the correct letters are color coded based on if they're in the right spot. The game has you take the role of a detective sitting at your desk and trying to decipher evidence to gain clues on a murder. It doesn't really add much imo, only that a lot of your words will have to do with crime scene themes. Words like 'body' or 'stab' have come up. Story mode has you go up to 7 letter words. You fail 3 times to get the word and start over. There's also a daily puzzle. My only real complaint is that I wish the crime mystery theme came more into play. You do get photos or documents that are meant to help you solve the word, but often the word has only a loose connection or no serious connection at all. One of the words was 'link' because your character says something along the lines of 'there must be a link connecting these two men' after you solve the puzzle. In one case a person is possibly lying so the word might be 'mask'. It would have been nice if you could really look into the photos or files and use them, but ultimately most don't do much beyond offer some set dressing. It's a fine word puzzle game. Buy it on sale and enjoy a couple of hours with it.
It is an interesting twist on wordle game where you can guess the word with first try if you understand the clues, but the plot is disappointing to be honest. I had expected that new game plus would reveal more truth about the case, but it didn't even though added a couple of more word puzzles to solve. It lacks the default wordle quality of life, because the green and yellow letters are not highlighted on the keyboard which makes guessing harder
🔹 EXPECTATIONS: a narrative Wordle/Mastermind game. 🔹 REALITY: a Wordle/Mastermind game with a separate narrative. 🔶 Detective Worden takes the gameplay mechanics of Mastermind (aka Wordle) and adds a narrative to it. If you're unfamiliar, you need to guess a 4-7 letters long word only knowing if letters are present in the final word and if they're in the right position or not, from previous guesses. 🔸 You start with a blind guess, then a letter is marked grey if it's not in the secret word, orange if it is but it's in the incorrect position, or green if it is correctly placed. You can use the keyboard or the in-game typewriter, which also comes with a handy button to remove all unused letter. 🔸 And then there is the narrative part. I was expecting the secret words to be key words for developing the plot, so that there is a purpose to the gameplay, but it's not the case. The words are loosely connected to the crime topic at best, giving a sense of disconnection between gameplay and story. 🔸 The story itself is compelling in the beginning but quickly starts to jump from suspect to suspect, never focusing on one thread, involving people of whom you don't have their images (which personally gives me a hard time) and crossing with another case from the past. It was hard to follow. 🔸 The game 4 chapters, for a total of 33 words to find, but I didn't play it in one session, so by the time I returned, I was completely lost. The game keeps past evidence on a side screen, but it doesn't include a full summary of events or characters' profiles. 🔸 Detective Worden is a glorified version of Mastermind/Wordle in the good sense. Exact same mechanics but with a story to accompany you while you guess the words, although the two don't go hand in hand. If you like the original, this is the same with a noir style. POSITIVES: 🙂+ 😄+ 😍+ NEGATIVES: 🙁- 😠- no summary of events 😡-
For more puzzle game reviews, news and everything puzzle-related, follow Puzzle Lovers and check out our Steam group.
An elevated version of wordle where solving enough puzzles helps you crack unsolved cases. A solid presentation makes this an enjoyable experience. Plus I completed the game and then congress voted to release the Epstein files. Coincidence? we'll never know, but maybe the FBI should be working on their wordle skills.
