IT'S MORE CHALLENGING THAN IT LOOKS!
At first glance, this game looks like child's play, but some of these items are pretty challenging to find, especially the Magnifying Glass parts. The title and the graphics fool you into thinking this isn't going to be a challenging enough game for adults but it turned out to be a really fun and relaxing game! The Montgomery Fox series was originally developed by Paprikari Games, the same people who created the amazing Mortimer Beckett series. Cateia Games has taken over the series, remastering them while releasing a brand new edition called Montgomery Fox and the Revenge of Victor Draven. Although all three are basically the same game, with the same features, each game has a different "case" to solve, Cateia Games stayed true to the original concept in this remastered version while making the game more user-friendly. They added additional Hidden Object Modes, such as Silhouetted Shapes and Scrambled Words, as well as the ability to replay any of the HO levels. They added a Challenge Mode, which is a Timed Mode with no Hints available, but it also has more frequent specialty items available, including a unique feature that requires you to cycle through different words until you find the correct item that is available in the scene. HIDDEN OBJECT SCENES There are 20 different level locations that are played in three stages for a total of 60 Hidden Object Scenes. You can scroll to zoom in for both the main scene and the Zoom Zone. SPECIAL FEATURES Items listed in Blue must be cycled through until you find the correct item that is located in the current scene. This is a cool feature that makes it a bit more challenging because you have to figure out which of the 3-4 words are the available item. Scrambled Words and an occasional Silhouetted Shape item will also appear on the list, which shows three objects at a time. There is a secondary Zoom Zone scene available in each HO scene. Originally, the zoom zones continued to sparkle throughout the game, but this feature was tweaked so that it stopped sparkling if there were no items available. The sparkles will reappear as items are found, and new objects are listed. My only complaint with the Zoom Zone is that it doesn't automatically close after you find the items, nor do the items highlight for the Zoom Zone so you have to keep checking the Zoom Zone as new items are added. COLLECTIBLES Each of the 60 Levels has a section of a Magnifying Glass to locate (shown as a pictured item on the left side of the inventory bar) as well as a pictured Collectible Trophy (shown on the right side of the inventory bar) These collectible's show up as achievements on in Montgomery Fox's office after each HO level. You will also receive a new Journal Entry. MINI-GAMES There are only five different types of Mini-games which are available in four different stages. These are simple games, such as rotating discs to get a ball from point A to B or swapping colored balls until all balls in their matching colored tubes. I like all the Montgomery Fox games and this one is no different. Scene after scene of Hidden Objects, with many quite cleverly hidden. The graphics and music are "cartoony" which is just fine. There is a story that takes you from scene to scene and you will revisit each scene 3 times so you have a lot of bang for your buck . There are 5 mini games which you will replay 3x each...they are pretty simple. If you want to kill some time in an enjoyable fashion without stress or brain strain, this is a good game.
Nice hidden-object game with extra collectibles and mini-games.
I'm so glad Detective Montgomery Fox ' Trilogy is now on steam , kinda on the easy side of the genre but super appealing and relaxing to play , love it!
Edit edit: Kids enjoy this game immensely. That's 90% of the rating. Edit: Back to positive since the Developer is around to fix problems. Just be aware of the following issues. I only got this for 90% off. It's fun to play but the spelling errors can frustrate you especially when you try to play with scrambled word clues. What I like:

You can zoom in and out.
Things that I did not like / find weird:

Some spelling errors. Neddle - Needle? (Fixed) Vine Glass - Wine Glass? (Fixed)
When you are going for the stars, the timer still continues after you found the final object as it waits for the animation to finish. So you have to keep in mind that you need to finish at least about 2-3 seconds before the star timer ends in order to earn that star.
Some clues with multiple solutions but only one answer. E.g. BIRD can mean rubber duck or yellow canary, but in this case, canary is the best solution. There are some levels where it says DUCK and I realized it meant the DUCK duck and not the rubber duck I was initially looking at.
There were one or two clues that were kind of the wrong but technically correct name for some objects. Can't recall which ones I found at the moment.
Subjective to personal preferences / experience:

Some objects are hidden in such a way that parts of it are obscured. May subvert expectations or solving methods. In my example, only the stern of a toy boat can be seen. Initially, I could not identify the object at first, seeing some kind of colorful thing. Until the word "BOAT" came out on the list, then I guessed that what I saw must be a toy boat.
The old PopCap hidden object games by Spintop (Mystery PI, Around the World, etc.) are still the gold standard for me. I'm referencing this review based on my experience with those games. Your own experience may vary if you played any other hidden object game before.
