Desktop Garden works like any other desktop companion: the plant(s) sit on the bottom of your screen. And the more you type, the more the plants grow. Each time a plant reaches full growth, you get a new one. It's pretty simple. However, I have pretty mixed opinions on this and I'm going to start positive for this review. The idea is fun. I really do like the style and I think it adds a fun thing to something that is usually boring or empty on your screen. The game also doesn't seem to hurt my battery usage (I'm not using anything powerful to run this, so low-medium laptops should work with this game). But, there are a few things I really don't like. The shelf constantly being on the side, with no way to turn it off (only slide it over, but the pull tab thing is still very visible), is super annoying. I get it's there so that the plants can keep growing without them being on display, but maybe there could be a feature to just hide the shelf and be fine with hidden plants not progressing? On the topic of stuff being annoying on your screen, the plants get super big, super fast. Like, I can't really keep more than 2 bigger ones on my screen without stuff on the bottom being blocked. I feel like a size scaler could be a useful option here. I also wish there was a bit more order to the game as well. The pots and plants you get are random and there is no way to swap your plants pot (if you don't like the pot it was summoned with) or get rid of plants (to my knowledge). Since you can get repeats of the same plant and there is no clear way to get rid of them, your shelf just fills up with the same cactus. And the game description asks if you think you could find all the plant types, but there isn't a way of knowing how many are left or how many there are to begin with. If you're looking for some interactable decorations for you desktop, this is a decent free option. I do hope a paid version of this or something can be made to fix some of the issues I mentioned because I do honestly enjoy this application.

Would love to have along side my bongo cat but sadly I can't use it, for a couple of reasons. There needs to be some way to move everything to another monitor, some way to prevent losing plants by dragging and dropping them off screen, tool tips (or something along those lines) to tell you how to do things since I can't even figure out how to repot a plant and was confused on how I unlock new plants and pots, and the shelf needs be smaller but yet have the same amount of space and accessed a different way then dragging it out. Also having size options for the plants would be nice.

Super cute and fun! It helps me visualise how much work I've done over the last few hours, and it motivates me to do more :)

Very nice game, sadly I tried to move my first plant to my second screen and it vanished. Alas I fear it is gone forever... Great game I love it. 10/10
The only way to describe this is... An app with a plant sitting in the background that "grow" by "key logging"... not sure why someone would approach such a bold move risking their "game" flagged by antivirus simply by logging their user's key strokes even when the app isn't in the focus... and whether or not this is "safe" isn't important, because from a user's view with no professional knowledge to break down what the app is doing or whether or not it's sending out the logged key strokes to a server somewhere, there's no way a normal user can tell just by the look of it... which leads to the next phase, should we trust it? Which sadly, is a no, unless there's more data showing that it's safe, but from its current user base, we can't tell yet. And based on that, can't really recommend either.
No way to change what screen the plant is on. Also had my plant disappear. Reinstalled the game but i still cant see it.
