Not the worst underwater game. Hunt fish, take pictures and fight with sharks. Multiplayer with bots only as there's no servers. Playable but don't expect miracles. From many underwater games this one was not the worst. Without clear goal might be waste of time for some.
Went to Thailand and didn't get to clinch the fishes to knee & elbow them to death. 0/10.
Seems like a fun game, showing some promise with a fun, simple concept and execution that is (for the most part) acceptable. This falls apart as you continue past the first 20 to 30 minutes. The game becomes repetitive incredibly quickly, hints for where to find what become so bad they may as well not have been given, and by the time you think you have a good footing in how the game works and how to do things efficiently... you're already done. Then, there's (in my opinion) the most egregious flaw of this game. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who enjoys achievement hunting, and in most cases (not this one) also enjoys achievement *grinding*. This game has an achievement for swimming 100km and an achievement for spending 24 hours "underwater" (above water but in game counts). The game contains about 4 hours of content, during which you swim about 20km. I had collected EVERYTHING I needed to, and then had to swim back and forth doing nothing for another 6 hours or so. After the swimming was also done, there was STILL nearly 14 hours of idling to be done!!! In my opinion this sort of achievements can absolutely destroy what would otherwise be a nice, calming, fun and short experience. This sort of thing should not exist. Especially not when there are also reports of the achievements breaking (which I am lucky to say wasn't the case for me!) Decent little game, if you get it for free or nearly free. Otherwise not worth it, especially not if you would like to 100% the achievement list, that's just a gigantic slog when it shouldn't be.

🌊 Depth Hunter 2: Deep Dive – Harpooned My Life, Found Inner Peace 🎣💔 It was just a spearfishing game, they said. A casual dive, they said. They didn’t tell me I’d become the Poseidon of pain, the Jacques Cousteau of despair. My first fish was a parrotfish. Beautiful. Colorful. I stared into its eyes as I harpooned it in slow motion. It didn't blink. It just... accepted it. That was the moment I knew: this game doesn’t let you play — it lets you confess. 📸 Then the photography missions hit. I spent 6 hours trying to get the perfect shot of a turtle that wouldn’t turn around. My oxygen was running out. The timer was ticking. I cried real tears when I finally captured its left flipper in 1080p glory. 💰 Then came the treasure hunting. I found a rusty anchor behind a coral shelf. I screamed. Not because of excitement — but because I had been circling the same reef for 47 minutes and the anchor was mocking me. There is no mini-map. Only madness. 🫁 And don't get me started on the air gauge. Every moment is a game of "how far can I go before I drown in a sea cave while chasing a dumb fish with a mustache?" I blacked out IRL once — not because of the game, but because I was holding my breath in solidarity. 🕒 2,843.2 hours later: I have named every fish. I speak fluent dolphin. My friends are gone. My family forgot me. But I? I am calm. I am... submerged. 🎯 Final Verdict: Depth Hunter 2 isn’t a game. It’s a documentary about your descent into harpoon-fueled insanity, narrated by a fish that judges you silently. 🐟 10/10 – Would take 47 blurry fish photos and call it art again.
WHERE THE ♥♥♥♥ IS THE GUN
It's fun, short Unfortunately some of the achievements want you to play the game for around 30x the time it takes to do everything, so that's a bummer
For a game that's over 10 years old, it isn't bad but it is a flawed simulation. I never played an underwater spear fishing game before, so this intrigued me for the first hour. After that the game is repetitive. Graphics are outdated, even at the time for a 2014 game, but it holds up as a pretty cool underwater scene. You have 3 locations that are all similar in style and with similar fish. First place has the least amount of the same fish, then the second place has same but with some new additions. Final spot has all the previous fish + some more. I would have liked to see variation and not the same fish swimming around several times. I wonder if they picked these three real life areas because of the similar fish in real life and similar looking undersea reefs? There are three things you can do within the game. Photography, spear fishing and treasure hunting. Once you've seen all the treasure, they quickly begin to rinse and repeat. But the first experience I had was that "hey this is pretty neat". Appeal will die fast, especially for me which I was 2 away from achievement completion but probably wont complete fully unless I leave my PC on. Photography was cool to do till I had to do 200 snaps for the achievement which was after I beat all 3 locations. So it took up extra time. Oh and get this, last two achievements are swimming for 24 hours total (WHY?, THERES NOT ENOUGH GAME HERE FOR THAT) & swimming the longest total distance (again why, because no ones going to be swimming for 4+ hours in here). The time it'll take you to complete this game is in under 2 hours. There is a point shop where you get upgrades to your gear (swim speed, oxygen depletion, camera quality, spear accuracy). However you get money so quickly from missions, you'll get everything you need by area one. And for the spear gun, there is supposed to be an accuracy boost to catching. However I tested the upgrade and it did not change the range you catch the fish, which is how it works in game. Closer you are, easier it is to reel in for a "perfect catch". You can't actually miss in this game. It's not that advanced. So I felt cheated. So why is it that a rinse and repeat game is being recommended with its flaws? Well I had an experience. Easy achievement hunting, casual experience, music is delightful, relaxing world and it was exciting for the first few hours. So i'm not bummed for wasting my time. It has shown me a new genre that I now enjoy and will look for similar games. I just think It could have been a better game, especially for being $18 dollars. Try it if you want when it's on sale.
Right. Where do I begin.. I somehow managed to 100% this game. I regret it. At first, the game seemed to be okay. It was a relaxing little game where you were swimming under water, collecting treasure and catching fish with a harpoongun. It was only later I discovered its dark, dark intentions. +PROS+ +Some of the 3D models look okay. +The music is okay, but nothing special. -CONS- -The textures are.. It's just plain ugly. -A crab poses a much larger threat than a shark. -A very, very bad treasure hunting mission that can be very hard to do if you don't have a hawks' eyes. -Very short game. -You cannot replay the missions. The only way to replay a mission is to go into the game files on your computer and delete them. -Only 3 maps. -Small maps. You are constantly reminded that ''You cannot leave this area''. -Collecting treasure is WAY less beneficial than catching fish. You almost feel punished for collecting treasures. -Can cause motion sickness. Right, let's get to my biggest complaint. I love to hunt achievements, and this game wasn't gonna be an exception. It started off okay. Collect some treasures, catch alot of fish, travel some great distances, take alot of photos. When I had beaten the game and gone out of my way to get a few, I was only missing one achievement. 'Captain Nemo'. This is the worst designed achievement I've ever come across. The game tracks how many SECONDS you spend under water in the game. You get the achievement once you've spent 86,400 seconds under water. Also known as 24 hours. This wouldn't have been so bad if there was ANYTHING to do once you beat the game. You can't even go back and replay missions. There is seriously nothing for you to do besides just swimming around, so you just have to idle the last 20 hours. But that is where the real problems start. First of all, you can't alt tab. Doing so will pause the game and the seconds will no longer be counted. Secondly, if you purchase the full lungs upgrade, you can be under water for a total of 15 minutes before you have to go back up to the surface to catch air. If your oxygen goes to 0%, you go back to the title screen. So what you are left with is that you have to sit in front of your computer with the game running, and swim to the surface every 14ish minutes for 20 hours. It was the most boring evening of my life. I did read up on some exploits that froze time ingame, but it didn't work for me. Nor does it fix the problem of the game having to be open the entire time. By the time you are reading this review, the game is long gone from my hard drive and I am most likely getting treatment for PTSD.
