Interesting mix of a top-down shooter in a CyberPunk setting and RPG elements that reminds me about Hotline Miami but with more options for customizing. Check out my first impressions here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djSZ1pGRmNE

It tries, but the gameplay is clunky.

Enter Defragmented At face value it might look like a Hotline Miami knockoff, but what ended up in play was a much different story. The futurewave has hit, and hard, sending us out games like Far Cry: Blood Dragon, dripping in neon thumping music that matches the atmosphere of wetwork involved. It's a trend that I'm glad to be on board with, the nostalgia of the 80's a welcome place in my gaming heart. You play as a newcomer to a cyber-esque future city called Entropolis, working your way up a chain of involvement that mirrors your talent trees. The player can choose from three different unique classes - Cyberzerker, Railrunner and Ascended. This allows for the malleable gameplay, and shapes your end game accordingly. Each class has it's own specific special ability to tailor what kind of destruction you wish to cause. And with the top down view, you feel like your a rat in a maze, fighting the next for your cut of the cheese. The gameplay was fast, hard and unforgiving. But with the right planning for each small job, you can make your way through quite smoothly. A very satisfying win to each level also--when the last enemy hits the pavement, and the stats of the day's work roll in with a sigh of relief and exhilaration. They don't forget to shower you in credits and Deal-EO tokens to upgrade though, making the feeling of a lost level not entirely impossible to overcome by any means. It feels good to win at this game...and I would certainly say that's what keeps you coming back for more pain each time. The build of the objects and their surroundings might come off as simple at first, but are actually quite ingenious. Everything is made into geometric shapes, causing you to concentrate on how you're moving through each level. The pacing causing you to skip stopping off and smelling the flowers. Not to say you can't do this though--after each last blow, the level officially ends, giving you the score, but also leaving it open to explore before you calmly exit the premises. Lockers and dumpsters full of goodies--that room you might have missed when you were dodging a mounted machine gun...it doesn't rob you of the chance of a neat cleanup. This also adds to the replayability of the levels, as after you officially beat them, the items don't ghost out. It's an easy touch, one that makes me think the developers were quite in tune with how they wanted us to have fun. If the playing bit doesn't entice you enough, there's always the soundtrack. A gorgeous mixture of what's widely called the 'retro wave' genre...it effectively gets a blood flow going at all the right moments, and reels you back in for an interesting dystopic storyline. A stand alone buy on its own. In all, this game comes highly recommended on my end, something you won't regret having in your library. It's unique and challenging for the seasoned gaming vet, and easy enough for a casual gamer to enjoy as well. You don't want to miss out on this one! -ChickenSupreme/Gamesxtreme.com
Nice. Very well done!! I liked that:-)
I think the game is presented pretty poorly but it's a fun game underneath it all. The gameplay is very much a cyber-hotline-miami with added rpg elements like items and skills. The weapon stats really make a difference as well so you have to pick your battles. Besides that, the menu system isn't great and the controls are a bit flakey for a fast paced system but I like it all the same. There is a high amount of replayability as well!
Defragmented is a mixture between Borderlands(without the bulletsponginess) and Hotline Miami. The First Impressions Video can be found here: https://youtu.be/HmhYy0WjgU8 Some points that I have tackled on in the video:

Very RNG(Random Number Generator=Randomly Determined effects/numbers/etc.) laden game: [olist]
Itemdrops have rarities, affixes and ranges for stats.
There is a critical hit chance for enemies and yourself
There is a change to take no damage from hits(dodge)
Weapons have an accuracy stat [/olist]
Due to RNG: Tactical gameplay is very limited
Due to enemy reaction time and sight radius: Melee is rendered useless
Itemdrops are few and far between: Only real progression can be achieved through lots of grinding and buying gear from shops(Diablo 3 Vanilla, anyone?)
Scaling of enemypower is broken: From one level to another enemies can take multiple hits and kill you instantly
Short campaign: When the scaling problems and most other RNG factors were gone, the campaign probably won't even last for 90 minutes.
Boring talent system: Comparisons to vanilla wow talents can be made, as almost all talents have only small, passive effects
No dedicated endgame: Only newgame+ to replay the campaign in a little bit harder manner(as in: higher level enemies) is available
However: Overall the game has its promising parts in the soundtrack, the asthetic and level design
Considering all of the aforementioned points, I found to game a very unjoyful experience. Changes in scaling and overall mechanics(like getting rid of dodge) would improve the experience in my opinion.
Gawd damn! I'm only an hour into it at the time of this review and the game's story is freakin' awesome! Esspecially since I'm just coming from a Ghost in the Shell binge. The combat is a little lacking and some of the control binding don't make that much sense (if an update would allow us to map our own buttons that'd be awesome!) That being said now that I'm getting a couple more weapons the combat is becoming more fun. You get to keep weapons as you go along, plus I've only been using a controller so I'm not sure if it feels better with mouse & keyboard. And honestly the combat is way better than I thought it would be based on the trailer... The trailer makes it seem like a generic twinstick shooter but the guns sorta feel like they have "weight" since you do have ammo and the weapons do have a "clip/magazine" size. I'll probably adjust the sfx to be a bit louder compaired to the music since I'm sure the sounds of the guns firing would help the guns have more "weight." TL;DL: (short recap) If you enjoy cyber-punk settings (similar to the original shadowrun) give these guys your $15 and enjoy the story. The rpg elements are meh since they don't really seem to effect the game too much (so far only an hour in.) The combat is pretty good, I'm sure as I get more weapons and use the abilities it'll get even better. Side Note: There's also an option to go semi-third person but it's really hard to aim with this mode active, this feature could make this a bunch more awesome but since this game is essentially just a top down shooter I'm not sure how much work they'd want to put into this I'd definitely want to see a real third person view working even if aiming was just side to side not up and down. Edit: As of patch 1.0.4 this game feels so much better. The secondary camera I mentioned in the review is way more useful now you can use it to play the game and see what's down the hall. Now that the enemies can't dodge your bullets it also doesn't feel like your shots actually do damage you're not just shooting into thin air. I'd like to thank the team who worked on this game it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥' awesome. Like there's a few things I didn't like on the ride through the story but the end was pretty worth it. Looks like I only got 4hours of the game and I don't know if I'll re-play it (at least soon I probably will later on if they keep updating it like they have!!!) The music and the writing however made me feel like I was in a cyber-punk universe fighting for something and that's worth $20 to me.
Ten mi nepřišel nikterak zajímavý a přesvědčivý.
This is a game for boys and girls who like to be punished. You'll be thoroughly spanked by the enemies as you do your best to please your mistress, Mai. With a story that's absolutely titillating, the ending really left me in a bind (shhh, i watched a stream so i know how it ends). What really drives me wild is the fully destructible environments, knowing Mai would be pleased that i absolutely trashed the bases of her enemies. The game's relentless onslaught really leaves you begging for more.
