About
How long can you survive - when each day only makes the enemy stronger?
Defend the Castle is an intense day-by-day tower defense game where you fight off waves of attackers in a world that never gives you a moment to breathe. Each day brings 5 waves of enemy assaults, and you have only 60 seconds to survive.
But this isn't just a game about defense. It's a game about choices. What do you upgrade? What do you sacrifice? What will it cost to see one more dawn?
• Roguelike structure: Death is inevitable - and necessary. Fail to meet your daily kill quota, and it's game over.
• Strategic upgrades: Between days, spend your hard-earned resources to improve your base, repair the damage, and prepare for what’s next.
• Hidden threats: Some days feel... different. Something larger stirs in the distance. What awaits at the edge of dawn?
• Dynamic enemy waves: Each wave features unique combinations of enemy types - no defense holds forever.
• Atmospheric world: A living battlefield with storm clouds that strike lightning, flocks of birds in the sky, and visual details that breathe life into every deadly sunrise.
Defend the Castle is as much a battle against time as it is against the enemy. A strategic survival experience where every choice matters - and every day could be your last.

An actual way to upgrade your castle out of the battles would be great and make the game more fun.... I'm constantly finding myself angry at the game because I constantly die on day one. Maybe tying in upgrades to the achievements people get on the game would make the game more balanced

One of those games that’s easy to start, but difficult to master. It’s intense right from the start, you can’t really play "randomly", and figuring out your tactic along the way is actually a lot of fun.
Amazing game just hard enough to enjoy and really want to grind to beat. love the art and gameplay was a nice way to spend a night gaming
Decently challenging, took quite a few tries but eventually managed to beat the game. As others have said, the music slaps. Only way the music could've been better was if it had played in stereo rather than mono, but that's an extremely niche nitpicky comment as a musician to make
A fun little indie game with a cool art style and a strong core idea. For a free game, it is surprisingly enjoyable and easy to spend a good amount of time with. The vibe, the concept, and the presentation all work well, but there are a few things that I think could make the experience even better.

Feedback for the Developer

Everything feels a bit small on ultrawide. The castle, enemies, and arrows appear very small, which makes it hard to follow the action. A more zoomed-in view or scalable sizes would help a lot.
Early progression feels too one-directional. For the first 15 days, upgrading arrows feels like the only viable strategy. Otherwise you end up dying repeatedly just to farm souls.
There is room for more strategic gameplay. Features like placeable walls, autonomous archers, or the ability to train and send units (similar to Age of War) would add great variety.
The mid-game difficulty spike is very sharp. Days 11–15 become a wall after a few runs. It feels like either soul upgrades are too strong, or natural progression is too weak.
Rushing magic or trebuchet weakens defenses too much. Trying to unlock advanced tools fast makes the castle too vulnerable, which limits experimentation.
Shield enemies are too hard to deal with. When the game pushes you toward an arrow-focused build, shield units become disproportionately difficult.
Rain effects could use a slider. The evening storms look great, but they can be overwhelming. A toggle or intensity slider would help.
An aiming indicator would improve clarity. The cursor feels a bit inaccurate, and it is hard to tell where arrows will land. A trajectory line option from the castle to the impact point would make aiming much more intuitive.

Overall, this is a great start with a lot of potential, especially for a free game. I am excited to see how it develops, because the foundation is already strong and with a few tweaks it could become genuinely addictive.
This game was great, especially for being free. It was a little short and clunky, and small failures early on can compound to make the game unbeatable, but overall it was a lot of fun.

The best games are those with a lack of polish. This game made me work my ass off. After beating it, I tried my best to beat it without any deaths, and the best I could do was 1 death. Wonder if a deathless run is really possible
