I meditate daily and attempt to try every VR meditation app I come across--I've been in VR since 2016 and consider myself somewhat knowledgeable about both meditation as well as what is currently available in this "genre." I am very impressed with DeepStates VR even if the current amount of content is a bit limited. I tried the demo early on and was unimpressed. That said, I picked up the full version during a sale and have been pleasantly surprised with the title's current offerings. I'd specifically single-out the inclusion of audio manipulation, form constants, and entrainment to assist in the induction of a meditative/hypnotic state. I won't discount whatever specific research the devs used, however I'd note that people who have used VR apps like SoundSelf or Visitations will be somewhat familiar with some of the tools used in DeepStates VR. What they've implemented is both welcome and effective--and hopefully they will continue to build upon these elements for future patches. My biggest "complaint" is totally subjective, but I offer it in the hope that the developer will read this and consider my point--DeepStates VR offers a really solid tool, but many of the features are buried too deep in the settings menu. Normally, especially for GAMES, I welcome a robust settings menu as it allows users to fully tweak their experience. DeepStates VR, however, is not a game, and the amount of settings options are confusing and overwhelming. I appreciate the inclusion, but DeepStates really needs some pre-sets so casual meditators can easily select certain features. I could provide tons of examples, but I'll try to make my point with just one. There needs to be an option that allows the user to simply launch a traditional meditation session without having to manually launch by using gesture controls after the scenario has begun. I'd recommend the developers look at the way Tripp allows users to select meditation length and guide voice prior to launching a session--just something very simple that allows the meditator to launch and begin without having to deal with learning a myriad of gesture controls. The current interface provides a ton of (confusing) options IMHO. I think that is fine for "advanced mode," but DeepStates truly needs a "simple" mode that doesn't necessitate the user launching a scenario, then having to open up a settings menu from within the scenario to adjust parameters, then requiring the user to use gesture control to actually begin a guided meditation session. I'm still unclear if DeepStates VR offers a female guide voice or not--the settings menu has so many poorly-explained options I'm hesitant to make changes. I just want to meditate--I don't want to have to tweak a bunch of (difficult to understand) settings before meditating. That said, I do recommend DeepStates VR even in Early Access. It just needs some polish in certain areas, and hopefully the developer is still engaged.
Fantastic, one of the most immersive vr experiences I have played to date. I hope they keep adding more.
This is anoying instead of relaxing. Tried it 3x - now I uninstall it.
the best graphics in these sort of environmental meditation scenery's as of yet ,no doubt ,these sceneries are photorealistic not just a cheap engine with imported assets. Love it!
So much potential, but the experience is so horribly optimized that even my 4060 with 14400F processor can't even come CLOSE to loading the scenes at 80 Hz. Unless you have an outrageous setup, don't even bother with this
Much better than I was expecting. The detail in the environments are super high fidelity. The audio/ASMR is really fitting, not in any way intrusive to the immersion.
Unlike any other kind of relaxing environment on VR.
DeepStates [VR] is a virtual reality experience developed by Marc Zimmermann and published by EpicScapes that deliberately steps away from conventional game design in favor of immersion, atmosphere, and mental stillness. Rather than presenting objectives, progression systems, or challenges to overcome, it invites players into a series of carefully constructed environments meant to be explored slowly and intuitively. The experience positions itself closer to a contemplative digital retreat than a traditional VR title, appealing to those who value presence and mood over interactivity or mechanical depth. From the outset, DeepStates [VR] establishes its identity through restraint. Upon entering one of its environments, players are not directed by prompts or goals; instead, they are free to move, observe, and simply exist within the space. The environments are naturalistic and expansive, emphasizing scale and realism to enhance immersion. Movement options are customizable, accommodating both teleportation and smooth locomotion to suit comfort levels, and this flexibility makes the experience approachable even for users sensitive to motion in VR. The absence of pressure or urgency allows the player to settle into each scene at their own pace, reinforcing the game’s calming intent. A major component that distinguishes DeepStates [VR] is its guided mode, which introduces a structured relaxation system designed to deepen immersion and promote mindfulness. This mode incorporates breathing cues, subtle vocal tones, and layered audio effects that respond to player input, creating an interactive meditation-like session. Elements such as humming and controlled breathing are detected and subtly reflected in the environment, blurring the line between physical and virtual presence. This integration of sound, interaction, and environmental response gives the experience a unique sensory feedback loop that feels intentional rather than gimmicky, especially for users seeking relaxation or stress relief through VR. Visually, the experience prioritizes atmosphere over spectacle. Lighting, environmental effects, and spatial composition are carefully balanced to evoke realism without overwhelming the senses. Sunlight filtering through landscapes, shifting fog, and ambient motion contribute to a feeling of authenticity that strengthens the sense of being somewhere else entirely. The sound design complements this approach, relying on natural ambience and spatial audio rather than dramatic music cues. Together, these elements create a cohesive sensory experience that encourages extended contemplation rather than fleeting engagement. Despite its strengths, DeepStates [VR] is unapologetically niche. The lack of traditional gameplay mechanics means there is little in the way of replay-driven discovery or evolving content. Once the environments are familiar, repeat visits are more about revisiting a mood than uncovering something new. Additionally, development on the project has ceased, leaving the experience in a fixed state without future expansions or updates. For players expecting ongoing content or expanding features, this static nature may feel limiting. However, this limitation is also part of the experience’s identity. DeepStates [VR] does not attempt to hold attention through novelty or progression; instead, it encourages repeated use as a personal space for relaxation, reflection, or decompression. For some players, this makes it an ideal companion to more intense VR games, serving as a counterbalance rather than a competitor. Its value lies not in how much content it offers, but in how effectively it delivers its intended emotional and sensory impact. Overall, DeepStates [VR] succeeds by fully committing to its vision. It is not a game designed to entertain in the traditional sense, but a carefully crafted VR environment meant to be inhabited rather than conquered. For players interested in meditation, immersive ambience, or simply experiencing the quiet potential of virtual reality, it offers a soothing and visually compelling escape. While it will not appeal to those seeking action or progression, it stands as a thoughtful example of how VR can be used to create spaces for calm, presence, and introspection. Rating: 7/10
PLAYするってよりボーっとプラプラしたいときにいいんじゃない この映像の中の世界で特に目的も無くプラプラするだけ VR初心者ならVRを体験するって感じでもいいかもしれない ただ多少のPCスペックは要するみたいだけど
