It's a fun game for a couple hours, unfortunately the grind feels endless since your offspring's kills don't count as kills for you when it comes to unlocking new creatures, so you just have to play mindlessly for hours hoping you got enough, and you probably don't. Another problem with the offspring AI is that the AI controller doesn't even work. I can't plop them down in an area to farm and get big, they either sit still or kill everything and not eat it. When the AI is following you, it's a constant pain because it's either too weak and gets killed, or it's strong (good), but then eats all your food or food you're trying to direct another AI to. And the AI selection UI within the controller is awful. But let's say that all of that is fine, you eat, become the biggest thing, and that's it. Nothing else to do, see, or explore. Just a level up simulator
This is "Fish: Feed and Grow 2." But it's a soulless sequel. The game lacks character. You can't see your progress as you go. While you eat other fish, level up...the coin counter says zero. But after you pause and "settle" up, do you see your score. It really lacks a decent soundtrack that keeps me plugged in. Also the other Ai fish don't attack you unless you basically swim right up to them. Again this game basically has no character or personality.
This game is a lot of fun even if it is basically Feed and Grow Fish 2. Pretty sure they're even using the same game engine, given how carcass mechanics and starfish work. It's superior in a few ways though: Prehistoric and modern creatures have their own biomes and only things that survived can be found in both, I.E. jellyfish, crocodiles, etc. The game also runs more smoothly and doesn't feel like as much of a grind as F&GF did, especially since they don't have the medal system (bronze, silver, gold) to stress over. Leveling is challenging, but fair and at no point (having hit level 70) did I feel like it was taking too long. Another big plus? No "decorative" schools of fish: You can eat/interact with them all. Downsides include spawning (while awesome to make your own school) costs a chunk of your exp. bar and every new fry starts lvl 1. Takes some time and work to raise kids, even as an aquatic animal. The weird part is that you never need a mate, you just drop a pre-fertilized egg which kinda detracts at least for me. Likewise EVERYTHING moves in a school, even species that shouldn't such as Great White Sharks, Whale Sharks, and many others. There's no predator-prey relationships: I.E. sea turtles should be stalking jellyfish as their first choice but don't. Same for Great Whites and Seals or other mammals. The maps also feel smaller and there are only two of them, which is kind of a bummer. Hoping the devs implement a mating system (find a mate to lay and egg, maybe even give an option for the mate to take the kid instead of you), and more maps. Deep ocean, coral reefs. maybe a river delta/swamp or marsh, a river, etc. Likewise more varieties of fish would be good: The base model is the clownfish but there are LOADS of other "basic" fish in the game. Maybe unlock them as skins for the clownfish after eating so many of each kind? All in all, I'm just nitpicking but the game has proven a LOT of fun. Looking forward to future updates!

love it, hope we get the narwal soon, jedi of the sea
