Deconstruction Simulator: Prologue is one of those simulator games where the main idea is much simpler than the amount of stuff I can actually do with it. I am basically running my own demolition company, taking contracts, tearing buildings apart and trying to make money from whatever materials I can recover. I can either carefully dismantle things piece by piece or bring out heavier tools and just start smashing. I really like that the game lets me decide how much destruction I actually want to cause instead of making every job play exactly the same way. The destruction itself is easily the best part for me. There is something really satisfying about hitting walls with a hammer, taking furniture apart and eventually bringing out the wrecking ball when I want to cause some serious damage. I also like that the game is not only about destroying everything. I can recover building materials and valuable objects, then sell or recycle what I find. That gives the destruction a proper purpose because I am not just smashing things for the sake of watching them fall apart. I also enjoy the business side, even though it is fairly basic in the prologue. I can earn money from contracts and use it to improve my equipment, expand my garage and grow the company. There is also a reputation system tied to how I handle jobs. If I ignore what the customer actually asked me to do, I can affect my payout and reputation, so there is at least some reason for me to think before I start swinging a hammer at everything in sight. I like having that choice between doing the job properly and just causing absolute chaos. The biggest problem for me is the limited amount of content in the prologue. There are three contracts, five destruction tools, five dismantling tools and a wrecking ball, which is enough to show me what the main game is about but not enough to make this feel like a full simulator by itself. Once I have experimented with the tools and worked through the available jobs, there is not a huge amount left for me to discover. That is fair for something specifically presented as a free prologue, but it still limits how high I can rate it. I also think the destruction physics are fun but not completely perfect. When everything comes together and a building starts collapsing properly, it can be really satisfying to watch. At other times, the simulation can feel a little gamey and I am reminded that I am playing a demolition simulator rather than actually tearing down a building. There are also enough tools and systems that I would like to see the full game push the idea further, especially with larger jobs and more interesting decisions about what I should save and what I should destroy. The presentation does a decent job of making the whole thing feel like a proper job rather than just a destruction sandbox. I have a company to build, equipment to improve and contracts to work through, so there is a clear reason behind everything I am doing. I also appreciate that I can choose how carefully I approach a job. If I want to be precise and recover useful materials, I can do that, but if I just want to pick up a hammer and start breaking things apart, the game gives me room to do that too. That freedom is probably what makes the concept work for me. Overall, Deconstruction Simulator: Prologue gives me a good taste of a demolition simulator that could become much more enjoyable with a larger amount of content. I like the destruction, recovering materials, company progression and the choice between careful dismantling and complete destruction. The limited number of contracts and the occasional roughness in the physics stop it from feeling like a complete experience, but that is also exactly what I expect from a prologue. As a free introduction, I think it does a good job showing me why the full game could be worth playing, and I would happily spend more time with the idea if there were more jobs and bigger projects to take on.
