A pure, dark retro dungeon crawl This game is drowning in atmosphere. Straight out of the gate, you find yourself in a DARK dungeon, with only your torch for light. Until playing this, I didn't recognize how light most dungeon crawls actually are. In true ARPG style, creatures come at you almost immediately. This game reminds me of a 3D version of Diablo 1. If you remember, back then you were actually dependent on your light radius to see. One big difference between this and Diablo 1 is that there is absolutely NO inventory management system. As far as I can tell, all resources are gathered and stored between plays. These resources can be used to buy upgrades to your equipment and even your person at the beginning of each level. So far, two levels are available. There are still some bugs that I notice in the game but it looks like the developer is busy getting rid of them and adding more content.
Damn, this game is scary. Lots of games claim to be "grimdark," but this one actually lives up to it. Enemies come at you quickly from the darkness. It's unnerving to hear them approaching from all around you. The abilities you get from cards are powerful. Of the handful I've tried, I like shadow (lifesteal) and lunge which gives you a powerful dashing attack that liquifies enemies. You get lots if control over character development. Though it's in early access, seems like it's off to a promising start.
Spooky AF!!!! I love it, great game!
A good one! Reminds of me Diablo 1 if it was first person. Lots of roguelike and roguelite elements. The atmosphere is great. You can feel the torch getting dimmer and it makes you a bit nervous. Lots of good games coming from solo developers these days.
