About
Deck and Conn is a retro-inspired, single-player turn-based tactics game where you command a Cold War-style nuclear corvette — in space. Set fifteen minutes into the future of 1989, the game blends pixel-art aesthetics with tactical depth, drawing from classics like early MicroProse titles and the original Super Star Trek mainframe game.
Lead your crew through an endless war in deep space. Respond to distress calls, upgrade your systems, capture enemy ships, and rise through the ranks. Each decision you make — from combat strategy to crew management — shapes your ship’s legacy.
Whether you're navigating a full dynamic campaign or facing tightly designed standalone missions, Deck and Conn challenges you to survive, adapt, and command with precision.

At first I was going to put this as do not recommend due to the biggest oversight of modern gaming history. This game rewards you for staying out on long patrols, making enemy interactions somewhat difficult to come by. Initially there was no save system mid patrol, so I couldn't play it given I have a very busy life. But they listened to the community, released mid patrol saves, and now we see all those downvotes turn into upvotes. A very fast turn around of less than 4 days might I add. These devs clearly listen to the people. I am very excited for future systems additions, upgrades, and mechanics as right now the entire game can pretty much be beaten in one patrol if done correctly. I would love a dynamic system with technology unlocks and dynamic warzones. We had that technology in the Silent Hunter games, and I think it would make the game feel incredibly dynamic to do something like that. I want to feel like I have an impact on the war. All in due time I think, it's got lots of potential, and I think a few more mechanics is going to really make this game shine.
The vibes are immaculate. Edit: Did you know nuclear weapons have a minimum safe distance?

ehh is a working game. a little bland. I know this was a passion project and I am happy for the dev but its a play once come back months later when your bored.
This is really really good if you love *operating* your starships, not just flying them. It's a little frustrating that you can't save mid-patrol at the moment, but as that's listed as the next major feature on the roadmap, it's only a minor speedbump for now. Did I mention that it's really really good?
This should be EA, if this is the full release the developers need a reality check It is VERY easy to currently soft lock yourself, locked myself out on patrol 2. If you get 3 ASR turrets, and try to target all 3, you cant execute if your sensor tasking exceeds suite capacity, and you cant undo the ASR turret targetting, even it you turn them off. Game has a good aesthetic. Not a lot of depth currently. Good vibes but gets old quickly. It is unclear how to track your patrol progress. Game needs work, There a lot of QOL that can be added, like viewing the log computer during long travel times, rather than being forced to watch your ship move one tile at a time through an empty sector, id like to be able to read the logs/guide book during that time. Why isnt there a "CANCEL ALL QUEUED ACTIONS" button? Why can i softlock myself with ASR turrets? Idk man. I like the Idea of this game but execution needs work.
Deck Comm review I recommend it yes, but... damn that was a short campaign of a game... It was disappointing for the lack of variety. It just ends at 8 Patrols... ...really? no new class ship? no other sectors to defend? no fortress assaults? no territory claims? no epic battles? No new maps or some procedurals? ... turns out after 6 hours... no. The tutorial and manual looked intimidating but all you do is click start up buttons in order and you are set. Nothing too puzzling. Read your Briefing: You only patrol your designation zone for 8 days! That can be 10 min on a quite sector and 20 min when in battle. If you spend 40 min then you are out of your zone and failing to follow orders. Don’t go into contact zones in Enemy territory! You are a Corvette! Small-size ship! Don’t take on destroyers alone. Only respond to SOS messages within your designated zone as those have guaranteed enemies Don’t save every distressed ship! There are other friendly ships to cover other sectors. Stick to your zone. Go back once you reach PLZ 8 on the timer. This game could have been more. Even the old Star Wars X-wing alliance and Wing Commander games have you change ships. This game could easily accommodate a long campaign with many ship types as you get promoted. Starshatter: The Gathering Storm does this. There are no bugs!! I suspect human error.
It's a fun game. Good ambient background sounds. Fulfilling combat loop, just interesting and involved enough to be compelling without being a pain. Neat and simple systems managment. The progression goes a little quick; hopefully some later game progression and variety gets added. All in all a solid fun little game.
Fun but surface level, no saving in mission and missions can take quite a while depending on how you do it (i opted to go rather quickly) ship customisation is limited and i cant recomend it in the current build, HOWEVER it is still 1.0.0 so i would expect some changes to the game coming.
Good so far! Pleasantly, but not frustratingly obtuse.
Not worth it at this price.
