I don't like it. Not in control of the map or where you are going so the decision making and strategy is sub par. I stopped playing in 20 minutes.
Really fun. Great on the SteamDeck. Has multiplayer, but only really shows up during game battles. It would be nice if there were group conversational and pit stop location options with voting in multiplayer. Player 1 controls all the travel conversation, choices, and locations. I'd say get while on sale.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I wish to declare that I've beaten this game twice on the Switch, so my hours on here are not reflective of my total experience with the game. I am not quite certain what the game aspires to be. It presents itself as a light-hearted, fantastical romp in a zombie-ravaged world. The kind of zany, out-of-this-world one might imagine when they think of a fun zombie apocalypse. At the same time, the game itself is misery at its core. It is punishing at every step of the way. You dread engaging with any event in the game because it almost invariably penalizes you in some way. There's all these outlandish characters and events in the game, but they are window dressing. The true spirit of this game is a Fulci zombie nightmare where despair and pain compound at every turn. It is every bit of a death march. It is like the game has a split personality. It doesn't know what it wants to be. I don't understand the point of having all these fantastical aspects, but leaning so heavily into the most miserable experience possible. If the game were more forgiving with runs having a better balance of fun events and had a less depressing atmosphere, it would be so much more fun and interesting. It doesn't, though. I don't get this game and I do not feel like the developers did either.
LOVEEEEE this game. Bought it years ago when I was leading a trip of high school seniors to Canada and thought the name was funny. Now I have it on Switch and Steam with over 100 hours total. i can see why it would feel overly punishing at first, but once you learn what events need what attributes and MAKE CUSTOM CHARACTERS (Omg I cannot stress enough how much making a handful of good custom characters improves your runs. just look up a guide if you're not sure at first =0), it feels no more punishing to me than any other roguelike. Idk if I'll ever 100% it because Omega Streak intimidates the hell out of me lol, but I'll never stop playing either way =]
as a canadian this is really what its like living here
this is a BIG game but somehow it still gets repetitive at the start but once you get past that its a fun rougelike
I love this game, especially to play couch co-op! It's similar to Oregon Trail, only you're in a car crossing the USA toward Canada to flee the zombie apocalypse. There are so many positives it's hard to list them all: - Awesome pixel graphics - Super catchy music - Cheeky sense of humor - The ability to make custom characters that you can play or meet in the game as recruitable NPCs (I made the cast of Resident Evil) - Upgrading classes and unlocks by earning Zombo points you get through events every game (even the ones you die in and have to restart) - Excellent controller support - A great variety of fun and weird weapons and classes - Holiday events/characters you'll only see if you play ON the holiday (I met Santa Claus) - Inside jokes and references to pop culture and other games (you can meet a spiky-haired guy with a huge sword named Nimbus Ordeal, for example) - Regular large free game updates even 10 years after it first came out TL;DR: this game is great, and you should grab a copy. (Psst...as of the time I'm writing this review, it's on an 85% off sale...) The same awesome team is now working on a similar style of game that is sci-fi, SPACE DINGUS, and I'm stoked. I will keep playing Death Road To Canada and I know I'll play the heck out of Space Dingus as well.
This is such an addicting game to play and I love how unpredictable it can be. One day you could have a team of 4, full ammunition, fully stocked and the next you're running for your life. Very good zombie game, cool soundtrack also.
