Needs faster walking speed and weapon speed needs to be snappier and the attacks need to give off more feedback that you are hitting the enemies like bigger visual ques with the platforming needs to be tighter along with faster response when you press anything and the ability to assign controls along with change movement to the d-pad.
.good game. very nice level design, atmosphere, comfortable gameplay and mechanics of enemies and bosses. I definitely recommend it. you will have to work a little hard to obtain ingredients for weapons, structures, portals and techniques.
Gioco molto chill, da fare soprattutto nel periodo di Halloween, unica pecca, finisce abbastanza in fretta, anche se poi si può continuare per sbloccare tutti i potenziamenti.
Отличная игра. Особенно под хэллоуин
Death or Treat is a side-scrolling action roguelite developed by Saona Studios and published by Saona Studios together with Hawthorn Games that combines hack-and-slash combat, progression systems, and hand-drawn visual design inside a world built around Halloween-inspired imagination. Rather than approaching supernatural themes with pure horror, the game mixes spooky charm, humor, and satire into an experience that feels playful while still delivering challenging combat and rewarding progression. Its combination of roguelite structure and animated presentation creates an identity that stands out immediately, especially for players who appreciate stylish action games with personality. The game takes place in HallowTown, a once-thriving place built around seasonal spirit and supernatural charm that has fallen into decline. Players take control of Scary, the owner of Ghost Mart, who finds himself facing a growing crisis threatening the entire world around him. Large corporations and digital corruption have drained life from HallowTown, turning familiar spaces into dangerous territory filled with enemies and instability. The narrative uses exaggerated corporate themes and modern technology culture as part of its humor, creating a world that feels both whimsical and surprisingly self-aware. One of Death or Treat’s greatest strengths becomes obvious almost immediately through its presentation. The visual design carries exceptional style, with hand-drawn animation giving movement and combat a lively quality rarely seen in smaller action roguelites. Character animations remain expressive, environments feel full of personality, and enemy designs reinforce the game’s supernatural identity without becoming visually repetitive. Every area feels carefully illustrated, creating an experience that often resembles an animated feature brought into interactive form. The world itself contributes heavily to immersion. Players move through multiple themed environments that parody digital culture and modern technology while maintaining a Halloween atmosphere filled with ghosts, monsters, and supernatural energy. The setting feels imaginative without becoming disconnected from gameplay. Exploration remains rewarding because environments constantly introduce new visual ideas while supporting progression naturally. Combat serves as the foundation that keeps everything moving forward. Death or Treat uses fast hack-and-slash mechanics where mobility, positioning, and timing become increasingly important as difficulty rises. Enemy encounters encourage players to remain active rather than relying on repetitive attack patterns. Different weapon choices and magical abilities create opportunities to adapt combat styles while progression systems gradually strengthen player capabilities. The roguelite framework supports long-term engagement effectively. Runs rarely feel wasted because progression systems continue rewarding effort even after failure. Resources earned throughout combat can improve future attempts, unlock services, and strengthen overall capabilities. This creates the satisfying cycle central to stronger roguelite design where each defeat still contributes toward future improvement. Town restoration mechanics provide additional motivation beyond combat progression alone. Rebuilding portions of HallowTown creates stronger attachment to the world itself while giving repeated runs more meaning. Upgrades gradually expand available options and reinforce the feeling that progress extends beyond simple statistical improvements. The system gives Death or Treat a stronger sense of long-term growth than many action roguelites built entirely around repeated combat. Enemy variety also helps maintain momentum across longer sessions. Different enemy types require players to adapt positioning and attack strategies while bosses introduce larger mechanical challenges that test combat understanding. Difficulty increases steadily without becoming overly punishing, creating progression that rewards learning rather than relying entirely on upgrades. Audio presentation strengthens the atmosphere considerably. Music supports both lighter comedic moments and more intense battles effectively, while sound effects help reinforce combat impact. Combined with the visual style, audio design contributes heavily to making the world feel alive and cohesive throughout progression. The game does show some limitations during extended play sessions. Combat remains enjoyable, but players familiar with larger roguelite titles may eventually notice moments where progression variety becomes somewhat narrower than expected. The core structure remains consistent throughout the experience, and some players may wish later sections introduced more dramatic gameplay evolution. Long-term replay value also depends heavily on how much players enjoy roguelite repetition itself. While upgrades and progression systems help maintain engagement, players searching for heavily narrative experiences or larger mechanical experimentation may occasionally find the structure familiar rather than groundbreaking. However, Death or Treat succeeds because of how confidently it commits to its identity. Saona Studios clearly focused on building a visually memorable action game supported by satisfying progression rather than chasing every genre trend at once. The result feels polished, creative, and full of personality. For players who enjoy action roguelites with stylish presentation and rewarding progression systems, Death or Treat delivers an enjoyable adventure filled with charm, humor, and fast-paced combat. It may not completely reinvent the genre, but its artistic identity and polished execution help it stand comfortably among modern independent action experiences. Rating: 7/10

Good game but little boring
