good blend of diablo and vampire survivors
Nice game with slow progression from beating bosses (talents) and gathering equipment as you unlock more powerful characters, beat more bosses, and so on. Most characters only get decently strong after you've filled out most of their talent tree, so it's a bit of a grind. Nowhere near as bad as beating the chatty skeleton 33 times with Merris, which was presumably added when there was only the one act. Darkness (the way to make individual acts harder, and also to drastically increase drop rate) doesn't unlock until you beat the final act, and personally I think the first boss encountered is the hardest one on acts 2 and 3, so there was a lot of grinding commons from a freshly unlocked act (as the shop stops stocking act 2 mythics in favaour of act 3 commons as soon as act 3 is played). It would be nicer if it were unlocked sooner to increase the drop rates (and especially the ability to get uniques, which stay powerful) on the lower acts. Despite that, wide character variety and builds, most characters have something they're strong with, one character has a couple of easily accessible gamebreaking builds (Leaf).
I liked it :)
good
Rating: 4/5 ★★★★☆ With 50 hours officially on record and another 100 hours of "unofficial" playtime (hey, we’ve all been there), I’ve spent enough time in the pits of hell to know exactly where this game shines and where it starts to lose its luster. The Hook: Vibes and Variety At its core, Death Must Die is an absolute blast. It perfectly blends the "bullet heaven" chaos of Vampire Survivors with the high-quality gear progression and aesthetic of Diablo. The character builds are diverse, the art style is top-tier, and the feeling of finally becoming an unstoppable god of death is genuinely satisfying. Despite the high rating, the game hits a wall that’s hard to ignore once the initial magic wears off. The 20-30 Minute Slog: The biggest issue is the pacing. Rounds consistently clock in at around 20 to 30 minutes, and a huge chunk of that time feels like "running around and doing nothing." The Boredom Gap: While the endgame bosses are intense, the middle portion of a run often lacks engagement. You find yourself just kiting mobs in circles, waiting for the clock to tick down so something—anything—interesting happens. One and Done: Because the rounds are so long and the gameplay loop can feel repetitive, it’s hard to play more than one match at a time. It’s "fun," but it lacks that "just one more five-minute burst" energy that keeps other roguelites feeling fresh.
This is so peak. Replayability and a lot of different characters with interesting skill lines for anyone. I launched it to try it out for an hour or so and then put nearly 6 hours into the game without even thinking.
Good pixel style ARPG game, interesting dialogue, very in dept mechanics, build options and fun characters. Unfortunate that there is not an option for mobile or co-op mode
