I'm not really sure if Dear Mom is an asset flip. Some elements of this game certainly make it seem like the developer put some effort into assembling some kind of original here. On the other hand, a lot of the game assets don't seem like they were created by the developer, but they haven't credited any asset creators for supplying assets, which might be a case of plagiarism. There's no evidence, so we need to give the benefit of the doubt... regardless, asset flip or not, the quality here is indistinguishable from many asset flip/cash grab scams, and that's a problem in itself. This is a poorly made walking sim, you just walk around a (probably) asset flipped scene and collect little floating hearts, each heart throws a bit more narrative at you. It's got a voiceover so at least they put some effort in, one of the reasons I feel this is a more sincere attempt to make a game, although failing to credit asset creators is wrong. It's very short and simply not worth the money considering how many better free games you could be spending your time with. Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Dear Mom is relatively cheap at $2 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 9,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
First I wanna say thank you for the key to check out this game. Two cons: Game was a bit short which made it harder to connect to the story for me. I can connect cause I have a mom and as I've gotten older I've realized a lot of realities for why parents do what they do. Otherwise I found it beautifully poetic and enjoyed the music as well as the voice acting. Thanks for reminding me to take a moment to tell my mom I love and appreciate her.
Was gifted this experience by the Developer, and I have to say a lovely, and sombre one it was. Moving around the world to collect hearts, and interact, discovering memories, of words left too late to speak, and interacting with phrases in objects that are all familiar to us! "I brought you into this world.." being one of my fave's and most known for my own self too! Just a lovely experience to share. Get the game, explore, enjoy, appreciate.
Good, but extremely short story
not worth the time or money like i thought
Annenizle ilgili unutulmaz inanılmaz duygular yaşamanızı sağlayacak, anneniz hakkında kısa bir anlatı macerası.
Beautifully made game... too many critics commenting in here.. its supposed to be a nice touching game.... dont make it so realistic people and dont over complicate it.... i loved the game.. thank you devs.

It struggled to establish its characters and tell their story. The graphics were decent, but navigating the world had some strange hiccups. The voice acting also felt a bit forced, like it was trying too hard for a dramatic effect. I can only recommend Dear Mom as a demo-like piece to study and learn from.
The game is a short narrative adventure. Graphics and controls are good. The story and especially the message behind it is great! If you like indie games and like to support small indie devs, give this game a try.
