Reviews
Nothing, but AI slop. The "art" is not consistent, some are almost photorealistic, and some are cartoony (The pick-up hand has only 4 fingers and the beer-drinking animation killed me.). Some dialog cannot be skipped, so the first 20 minutes of the "game" are exposition, followed by 5 minutes of interactive gameplay and 10 minutes of exposition. And at that point, I'm out. Dear devs! It is supposed to be a game, so show, don't tell. Also, I think the achievements are bugged.
Warning: AI Slop This advertisement is partially or completely made with talentless, soulless AI generated content.
"Deal With The Devil: Chapter 1 - Journey to Tuonela" is is not a game. It's an advertisement for a product called "Deal With The Devil" (the following chapters beyond this short advertisment, of which only one was made and rejected by gamers). Deal With The Devil is a completely garbage bunch of disgusting AI slop, AI slop visuals, AI slop voice acting, the "developers" who vibe coded this garbage set out to insult every gamer and every genuine content creator with disgusting, repulsive AI slop. And they eventually want YOUR money for all this AI slop they are pushing. Utterly unacceptable. But this isn't completely relevant because this is not the full Deal With The Devil product, it's just an advertisment for the other paid chapters that haven't eventuated, so it's not correct to try to review that completely distinct product. We must instead review this for what it is... an advertisement. It's impossible in a general sense to recommend people should do that over playing real, full games on Steam, and that applies here with "Deal With The Devil: Chapter 1 - Journey to Tuonela" too. Usually the purpose of these advertisements is to get you to shell out money to the developer to buy the full product, but the developer hasn't bothered actually making a product you can buy, leaving this as an advertisement for nothing. We must question what value this pointless advertising has for gamers... and the answer is "none". Due to the poor public response amongst gamers for this advertisement, it seems unlikely the developer will go on to make the full product. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. As an advertisement, this is only free in the same way that adverts on Youtube and banner ads in your browser are. It's important to understand there's a formal process to create a demo/page for a game which hasn't been followed here: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/application/demos Publishing demos and advertisements as if they are full games is misleading and in some ways harmful. This advertisement is taking up marketing space and visibility that would be better made available to a developer that's done the right thing and created a full game. Instead, that visibility is given over to a demo/advert that's been published incorrectly and is polluting the marketplace. Often developers may choose to incorrectly publish demo/advertisements as separate games as a cheap way to bypass paying Valve for marketing presence on the Steam front page, which may seem clever to them, but it's harmful behaviour and it's not good for gamers. In terms of public reception, this failed. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 2 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Gamers can smell AI slop from a mile away. Advertisements and incorrectly published demos don't add +1 to your game collector count, they aren't full games. It's impossible for me to recommend this incorrectly published advertising spam to gamers, you deserve better than adverts.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
First, a good reminder that this AI slop advertisement only attracted a peak of 2 users, an unassailable fact. This stands as evidence that this advertisement, the product it is advertising today, and the future products it was intended to advertise were all doomed to failure, a direct result of incompetence from the developer and the disgusting, deliberate use of AI slop for profit. The first thing the developer wants everyone to know is that they are "The Main Character". You, as a gamer, don't matter. They breach Valve guidelines for developers just to complain about a fully accurate and informative review (with facts their ego doesn't like). It's evident from their attitude that they never created this product with gamers in mind. They did so to stroke their own ego. When developers, especially failed ones who would never be able to get a professional job in the industry, put themselves before gamers, we end up with garbage products like this. That explains how this trash ended up on Steam, but it doesn't excuse it. At least we finally got to meet The Main Character, and nobody else matters. The developer dishonestly represents that this incomplete component of the series is in fact the entire thing, a complete game with no additional content anywhere. What complete bullcrap. See, unfortunately we cannot believe this incredible dishonesty because he'd already put the second part of the content up on Steam as a paid product!!! So it's obvious the developer is using this first part to try get people to pay CASH MONEY to buy the rest, and presumably prompt out even more AI slop... but he failed, because all he can do is disgusting AI slop garbage because he doesn't know what he's doing as a developer, which is why this is a rejected advert. The paid content also failed and the developer removed the price, desperate to get anyone to take in his AI slop... it's a disgusting insult to developers and gamers everywhere. The developer tries to hide this blatant advertising by attacking this reviewer as "not comprehending English", just because he's desperate to hide the fact he tried and failed to scam gamers out of money by pushing AI slop. Disgusting. So you can see the developer is just telling outright lies and pushing fake BS along with his fake AI slop. The proof is there for all to see, in spite of the developers deliberate dishonesty. The developer then shovels some damning confessions... this was not a serious product, not intended for gamers, just an incompetent seeing if he can get away with pushing disgusting AI slop at gamers and get paid for vibe coding and crap Dall-E "art". This is incredibly offensive and insulting, yet we can tell so much about this developer because once more he doesn't see any problem with this toxic and cancerous behaviour. Which might hold an element of truth except the developer tried to charge money for the second chunk of AI slop he crapped out at gamers. Obvious misleading and dishonest behaviour once more. Finally the developer admits they didn't hire a team of talented staff to produce the game and tried to do the whole thing on their own, instead. This is a lot like boarding an airplane, and halfway through the flight, having the pilot come out and serve peanuts. It's going to end in disaster. It requires a team of competent people to do a complex job properly, and that's not what has happened here... another explanation for the poor quality of this game. That's just plain incompetence but needs to be mentioned as part of the overall assessment of this garbage advertisement from a demonstrably lying and dishonest developer. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this AI slop advertisement to anyone.
Игра "Deal With The Devil: Chapter 1 - Journey to Tuonela" оставила смешанное впечатление.
