Super fun, I love the art style and the game play is pretty good. i'm excited to see how it progresses and love it so far! Nice work
A fun little rogue-lite. Some Turmoil game play interspersed with bouts of blowing stuff up (or being blown up). Definitely worth the price of admission.
cons: - sometimes it's hard to tell on which lane is the scrap from destroyed vechicle due to their animation - whenever you exit and enter again, the setting for color palette is automatically changed to random - can't change keybinds - can get repetitive pros: - very nice artstyle - scratches the Mad Max itch well - quick to learn - original gameplay loop - feels good to play there's enough content for now but I hope more stuff will be added
Here are the main cons of the game: 1- when you press Esc there is an option for ending the run and there is one for quitting the game when press quit game the run ends this may seem miner but I though I can resume my run at level 32 but that was not the case 2- No enemy variety I would have liked it if there was an enemy charging toward you and you need to react fast, perhaps another coming to your side and to destroy him you need to jam him with your truck 3- Each run takes too long A run is something like 30 minutes it would have been better if it took something like 20 minutes but the upgrade that lets you instantly start another wave kind of solve this one but you don't get it every time 3- (THIS ONE WAS FIXED IN AN UPDATE) [strike]The game do not remember your settings I need to put the frames V-sync to 60 FPS and the truck controls as inverted each time I open the game[/strike] Except the show tutorial box , I still need to unmark it each time I open the game 4- The drilling stage is not that good I think it will be better if we down scaled the entire thing the map size, the drill speed, and the oil deposite size (but not the amount you get) It is much better in adventure mode rather than in classic mode as a proof also IDK if this is considered a bug but sometimes the radar does not show oil deposites even when they exist perhaps it is because I activate a radar and then drill through it without letting it finish first Also diagonal movement is faster than straight movement for some reason 5- Bugs Not game breaking bugs but there is a lot the latest one I encountered is the health bar not showing correctly as it disappears in the left side =============== Suggestion When you choose RustBucket, which gives you 1200 scrape you don't get it in survivor mode as you still begin with level 1 I don't know if this is intended but I suggest that you instantly level up when choosing RustBucket in survivor mode ==================================================== The concept of a moving base you can upgrade is cool and I feel it's under explored this game scratches that concept The price of the game is suitable (3 dollars in MENA region) also I really like the survival mode I will be buying dead oil 2 (don't name it that) when it comes out Also the developer is active and is still fixing bugs and such although I am worried that he will keep working on this game rather than making a new one which can be a bad decision economy-wise
Very fun post-apocolyptic roguelike. The graphics are great, and I love the randomized color palette swapping. The drilling portions have some serious strategy to them, balancing getting one more oil reserve vs taking some damage above the surface. The only frustrating thing I've found is I'm having a hard time finding Iron, which is the only way to get your health back. But I assume it's my skill and not the game. The dev is very active in his community and is always listening to feedback. Definitely worth a pickup, especially at this great price.
simple but fun
A Beautiful Mix of Turmoil and dome keeper (you should play those if you haven't before). Can't wait to see what the future has in store for old dinosaur sauce.
Cool little game but the price needs to be very low :)
A combination of mad-max and turmoil. Great replay value for a great price.
Dead Oil is Mad Max meets Digger, roguelike where you alternate between, drilling for oil, upgrading your truck and rig, while keeping an eye on the timer before the next enemy wave hits. You’re constantly on the move, trying to gather as much resources as you can before combat kicks in again. You use a set of tools to locate and extract resources, each with its own cost and purpose. Each wave is harder with more enemies so you have to upgrade your truck to push your run further. It’s got a satisfying loop, great pacing, and solid depth. If you like roguelikes with resource management and action in between, this one’s worth giving a try!
