Great graphics but sadly nothing is interactive
Before I played Dead Herring VR, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
This is a curious experience. The description says that you will be solving a murder case but that isn't really true. What you will be doing to hunting around a room trying to find all of the hot spots (like a VR version of an early point'n'click adventure) and then, at some arbitrary point (you don't need to find all the hot spots), you can trigger a long audio log explaining exactly what happened. The game doesn't really care how much you try to solve the case and if you do try to solve it then it doesn't give you any mechanism for checking or rewarding you for getting it right. It's a shame, but still worth a look for the detailed room environment.
It's free, it's definitely well made and also fun to play this (very) short but original and interesting little game. I really like the apartment which -I think- is created with the help of photogrammetry. The goal of the game is finding out what happened here, mainly by looking around trying to find relevant objects/clues which you then "scan" and the findings are stored automatically in a "file". Short experience for everyone who's looking for something different than the usual (zombie) shooting.
Dead Herring VR is a free VR game where you find hidden clues in a room. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok, was understandable. Has a tutorial. It is a short game, if you give up easy. This game was made by a college coding team. Has a dark and gory story. Has teleport for VR movement mode. Does not need the recommended 3m x 3m play space, since it has teleport. There is no interactive parts. You have to bend down some to scan everything you see. Has voiceovers in English from German people. Try this short game.

Dead Herring VR is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from Kassel University of Art and Design in Germany. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. This is largely a VR tech demo, but not a horrible one. You're tasked with solving a murder case in a virtual environment, but the gameplay is incredibly basic. Analysis involves looking at objects in a virtual space. The story, while purportedly educational, is deeply flawed and amateurish. The graphics in this game are really quite good, which at least makes the game look more appealing. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable, or something you might want to spend your time on. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 2 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? This is a "maybe" experience... if you have a lot of free time on your hands and nothing else to do, why not? But for the purposes of a review, this isn't something I can say everyone must try. It's not quite there. Valve doesn't give us a "maybe" option in reviews, but if they did, that's what I'd choose for this.
Short but fun experience. It would've been easier to get around the room and search using controller turning, but I managed without it. For free it's definitely worth trying out.
