This game is fun. I found 2 bugs and the developer fixed it in less than 24h after I wrote about it, first time I see so much care for a game.
Very enjoyable game :) I love farming games, and I love monster collector games. This is a good marriage of the two games! It can be a bit challenging, and my usual tactic of just go in full offense doesn't always pay off but that's a me problem not a game problem, would wholeheartedly recommend this game!
Just no. The tutorialization is a few lazy, unhelpful "hints", character movement is too fast (and I'm saying this as someone who modded movement speed up by a MARGIN in Stardew Valley) and overall there's just too much to "work through" before this gets fun. I bought this over the positive reviews - I had to check the forum for the first time literally during character creation. (Unexplained random 9x9-square, no explanation other than a forum comment by one person who "thinks" it "might affect the story in good or bad ways"). I saw the myriad of confused posts in the forum but figured a bit of patience would do it. It's not about patience - it's about blindly thrashing about hoping to do something. The tools-wheel is tedious as hell (you have to click on it every single time you want to switch your tools), the controls are overall unintuitive and while there's aspects I could find enjoyable (the communication wheel for one), overall I know a bust when I see one. People let devs get away with far too much laziness these days. Proper tutorialization is not optional, it's not covered by an overloaded keyboard interface one can look at and some uninformative textboxes and without it, most players will be - more than rightfully - looking for greener pastures and more well thought out work in other games.
Pro: This feels a lot more like a farming _RPG_ than some games. It had a lot of details that felt more drawn from RPGs than from farming sims. I liked that. Pro: Even with a lot happening on the map, the game was nice and responsive. Pro: There are 12 possible starting characters, and they have slightly different backstories. That was an interesting idea. The fact that those characters are the only romance-able characters was also interesting as it opened the possibility for custom events, or custom responses within events. (I didn't get far enough to know whether those possibilities were realized.) Con: The game doesn't feel cozy at all. It has an edginess to it that spoils the cozy. That edginess turns to creepiness as the game goes on. Con: There's some major religious undertones. Within the first week there's a "Resurrection Day" complete with mysterious eggs and what appear to be Biblically Accurate Angels. (I don't follow an Abrahamic faith so I might be wrong there.) There's talk of a "karma mechanic" but it really seems to be more like "luck" in that it seems to primarily influence the RNG. If you mentally start flipping the words, the religious overtones get blatant and annoying as you are luckier if you do "good" deeds. (This would be "God's Reward for the Pious" that is talked about among some religions.) There's no benefit to you if you don't do your best to comply, and even the farming itself runs on the karma/luck mechanic, so that's no escape. It low-key feels like it was brought about by a team that found each other at church. It sets itself up for a redemption arc where an evil "misfit" has a change of heart and saves the world. While you can only romance other "misfits," the way everyone else acts towards them makes it feels like that is just a code-word for "sinners." This is only heightened by knowing their backgrounds. The key thing for me: The story itself isn't cozy at all. There are no time-limits for when things need to be done, but that isn't what defines a cozy game. Cozy games are gentle, relaxing, and life your spirits. This isn't a cozy farming game, it's a monster farming RPG. If you're expecting something cozy, you will be sorely mistaken.
This farming and monster battler hybrid is a pretty good game for what it is. A little rough around the edges, it's not as fleshed out as Stardew Valley nor should you expect complex battles like Monster Sanctuary. Progress can be slow at the start, but the harvests are generous enough to quickly get some working capital. Each monster you raise becomes unique as food grows their stats permanently and moves are randomly learned with same typing being favored. There is plenty to enjoy here whether you are a fan of one or both genres.
It is cute and interesting game. It does however, need some work. Something can be a bit awkward, like the tool/hot bar, and the map. But still worth it.
Klarer Daumen hoch.
This has to be the best RPG Maker game I have ever played. It's very well designed. The farming is fun, collecting the monsters is fun. The world you play in seems very large for a farming sim. I'm floored by how good this is. Kudos to the devs. I've played a lot of RPG Maker games and even the best of them isn't as good as this. :)
Just started this game and played 2 hours but really enjoy it. You start on an island and free to do whatever you want - collect monsters to fight other monsters in caves, collect resources to craft things, talk with other people on the island, develop your farm, participate in festivals, follow the main story line (yeah, it's at the end because there is no focus on it at all). At the very first day you may be surprised by fainting mechanics when after some amount of hours being awake your energy starts draining and if you miss it you most likely won't make it back to bed in time. But after you learn of this mechanics it is very easy to control. You can even craft some cheap bonefire to carry with you and then you will be able to sleep whenever you want. Food is abundant so also not an issue. I didn't start farming yet but already had 260 peaches just from walking around the island. Fighting enemies starts slow when you can only fight maybe one battle before you have to sleep to heal or resurrect your monsters, but eventually as you feed them they gain permanent stat increases depending on food and become stronger and have better survivability. Also those campfires let you heal them anywhere you want for almost free. Anyway, the game looks good and I enjoy playing it from the beginning.
Fun mixture of stardew and pocket monsters. Crafting is way more important than I initially expected. The tutorial could use a bit more work because some interactions don't make sense until I got a feel for it.
