On the surface the idea behind this game pushed all of the right buttons for me. Farming monster battler. Unfortunately, there is a lot more polish needed for this game. I appreciate that it was made with RPG maker, but there is a lot of information left unclear. Energy management is currently terrible. The help guide is very very limited. The controls are difficult but manageable. If possible the ability to remap keys later would be greatly appreciated. Don't try this game with the expectation that if you've played other farming sim type games this will be an intuitive game. My recommendations would include a better tutorial and a more in depth help menu. Additionally maybe a catalogue of what sprite represent what plant. I want to like this game, and I'm still gonna give it a chance, but its really rough right now.
I do not usually write reviews, but i felt after reading some of these i had to put my thoughts in aswell. I consider myself a farming/life sim connoisseur, my recent played games are Sun Haven, Stardew, Rune Factory, Sims, Sandrock and love pokemon. I also appreciate every game needs to be looked at independently in terms of being open minded and dont go in with pre set expectations. I umm'd and arr'd on getting this one as some reviews mentioned some gameplay clunks like the stamina ect, however i have found these elements like the hunger&energy add something fun, like a little risk, and there is so much bounty of fruits and animals to have a supply to heal and there is a well on your farm that gives a good energy refill once a day. Based on the couple hours i have played, in my personal opinion: Pros: -Although not character customization the playable characters are unique and make up for it. Mo is fave! -Tool wheel & tools not taking up inventory is beautiful -NPC's feel unique from eachother and the social wheel where you can joke, compliment, insult, chat ect is really fun -Monsters and how to obtain/create feels fun and separates from pokemon -A section of your farm you can interact with your monster buddies and the loyalty relationship process -Can jump and base player speed is fast but can be lowered, plus can add water and grass tiles to change landscape -Lots of events, festivals, shops, markets, locations, always something new to explore or work towards -Romancable NPC's and the social wheel makes it feel more natural, plus all A+ cuties with different backstories and personalities, appearances ect no one feels the same. I havent done to much in this aspect just yet but enjoying what i have so far and knowing its available as a choice -Crafting is really straightforward and base resources like wood, stone, ect doesnt take inventory space -Different dungeon/cave/temples with different elements, treasure and monsters -THE WATERING TOOL. A+ is all i can say, no repeated clicking just hold -Farming, seasons, crops and animals all available and lots of options -Easy way to make money in beginning and pick fruit from bushes and coconuts from trees and hunt animals for meat and sell at market -The way you explore and unlock locations in caves/dungeons is so addicting and adds a new element -There is a leveling and stats section -Home and farm is customizable and you get multiple options from every one piece as it changes when you move it for more options. -There is cooking and inn's Cons: -I wish main/story quests had a bit more direction in terms of how to complete ( i could just be an egg) and some items have clearer description for what to do with them. It took me a while to get into it because of this -Some sort of alert when about to pass out, more than just the corner, -Hard to level up new monsters initially cause they keep getting 1 shot cause enemies keep only targeting them -The map icons blinking is a bit frustrating, and if possible would be great for a little bit more detail on the map for buildings ect. -A sort button for personal and farm inventory would be awesome (like it makes any multiples stack and neatens inventory) -I STILL HAVEN'T FIGURED OUT FENCING AND NEED SOMEONE TO MAKE A WIKI PLEASE ( i know this is greedy the game literally just came out hah) -Would love some unlockable outfits ect for players but i could just be greedy and havent only played a couple hours so unsure if is available down the track All in all i am really happy with the game and am going to sink further hours in. You can really tell the creators passion's and talent and although i think a few tweaks would make it perfect, its so much fun as is. I recommend giving it a good try and worth pushing through if you get a bit stuck in the beginning.
I'd like to start by saying I beta tested this game. In the beginning you tend to have short days and shorter nights. Once your professions increase though I find myself sleeping at fires more than in the bed. Fires pass 8 hrs where beds are set times. So its easy to work with those two systems and get tons of day time in. Also there is a well which restores energy allowing even more day time farming/exploring. On top of all that if you get a lot of cooking recipes you can get food that increase STR AGI INT ect... to allow even more resource gathering. Most other games I find myself watering plants, farming then sleep then repeat... that's a 3 hr game. This game I will likely put in over 100 hrs. The combat is also so fun. Its mostly a farm game right? Wrong... so much more than a farm game. Combat is fun and smooth. Never too difficult (as it is actually a farm game) but also challenging enough to make you want more. The ability to customize creatures through food consumption was a nice feature. You can make fast weak monsters balanced or make them insanely fast and get multiple attacks per turn. The option to make your monsters what you want them to be is invaluable to me personally. I expected to play this game for 5-10 hours (the typical time I put into a beta). I got lost in it though. I don't often recommend a game but this one deserves a thumbs up.
One edit: it seems that my character fainted due to lack of energy, but I fiind it odd because I still had energy last i looked before the screen went black. In any case, the rate which the food and energy go down is too high. The food consumption is too fast and there are barely resources to keep it up at the start. I see no problem with the energy meter, but having to eat food on top of it is asking too much given how the game is planned. The starting scene when you pick light/dark is a joke. -100 IN ALL resources for positive/negative karma is extremly taxing on the player. three days of gathering and I couldn't even break even in a single resource! I don't even want to imagine how long it would take for me to remove this debt. It delays the building aspect of the game in a horrible manner for a mediocre reward, which can't even be used at the very start of the game (the karma). It's extremely unfun the way it currently is. It's a pity because I can see the game has a lot of potential. I'll give this game another shot if the devs remove all the problems I've mentioned.
7 Hours in and i'm loving it! There is so much put into this game and I feel like I've only scratched the surface- Growing crops and designing my farm has been my favorite part so far. I spend the first few hours weeding and plowing the lands to make my farm how I wanted it. Having picked the high intellect character (Winree) she struggles with the axe at first, but is noticeably better as my botany levels improve. No spoilers.. but I appreciate the subtle touches / easter eggs that the developer put in the game. I couldn't tell you the last game that was able to keep my attention for an hour at a time let alone 6 straight, but this one is it. I can't wait to get back in it tomorrow and explore the world further!!
I’ve been waiting a long time for this game I played some of the beta and then the demo because I didn’t have the money to buy the full game until now. It is exactly how I expected possibly even better. It’s easy to follow and there’s so much to do. The controls were a little confusing at first but once I got the game pad configuration to my liking It was perfect. Plus I’ve known the developer since his first game and he’s always been so responsive to any issues that arise! I can see his talents have improved over his first two games (although I like those ones too.) The farming and monster system is so in-depth and in my opinion polished and smooth but I am hoping so see more relationship/story content in the future *hint hint*
This game was rather cute, I got to play an early beta version with a key. I'd highly recommend it if you enjoy Stardew Valley, Pokemon, Harvest Moon or Monster Harvest. I didn't get very deep into the game but from what I got to play it was nice. I have since purchased it and look forward to delving deeper.
Man please come out with an update that lets you teleport home or something. I've only been playing for a few hours and i've gotten stock from it 3 times. I'm tired of restarting and having to load from my last save just because my character gets stuck in the map.
This game has been a a lot of fun. It does have a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it's a breeze. There are still some bugs that need to be worked on, but the developer is very responsive and even responds within a few hours of posting a question or reporting a bug which is very refreshing. The biggest thing that helped me was paying a lot of attention to price per weight for crops and growing the more profitable ones, and when leveling monsters to only level two at a time with the other four being level one. This way you can efficiently level and gather resources without plowing through your health potions. Also, avoid ever giving your monsters ether to refill their energy and only give them food and flasks as that is what actually makes them stronger. Leveling is a minor bonus and mostly just makes the enemies stronger. If you like games like Rune Factory and Serin Fate, then this is definitely up your alley.
Very enjoyable game :) I love farming games, and I love monster collector games. This is a good marriage of the two games! It can be a bit challenging, and my usual tactic of just go in full offense doesn't always pay off but that's a me problem not a game problem, would wholeheartedly recommend this game!
