Day of the Dead: Solitaire Collection

Pretty standard solitaire puzzle game. Animations are a bit slow, but that's so common and just takes some time getting used to. The most interesting part for me was being able to customize the character on every card type, fun easter eggs and achievements to go along with it as well. Overall, I recommend on sale.

UPDATE START: +++++ I originally gave a thumbs down with a complaint that the secondary objectives were too difficult. Well I came back to the game and maybe more brain cells were working this time. The game forces you to really strategically use the joker (and other powers) cards that you have. It's easy. I'm not sure what my problem was a few years ago, but I finished the game tonight. Thumbs up. Now I'm going to go grab the sequel. UPDATE END: +++++ OLD REVIEW: ------- (Disregard it) Fun game. Don't buy it until the developers make it so you can pass a level with only clearing the cards. The secondary objectives like "clear 4 clubs in a row" is ridiculous. So when I say fun game, it is fun until you start getting those blocker objectives. I've played the same dang level over and over again because I cannot clear 4 clubs in a row no matter what, using powers, etc. It makes me not want to play this game anymore, which is a shame. I would have refunded if I knew it would block me from continuing the game because of these ridiculous mandatory objectives. Don't buy until you find out they changed this. Maybe add a setting where you can complete levels simply by clearing all the cards and maybe get an additional score bonus by clearing the secondary objectives. I just played again and I'm frustrated. I simply won't play this until they make some changes.

Simple enough solitaire game, find a card one over or one under the one in your hand, long runs are worth more. They have avoided the issue of long runs of cards that cannot be played, at least on the level of difficulty I am playing, by always having a playable card no further than two away. Nice, for casual play. Not sure why it is called a collection though, it seems to be one game. The art is cute, the voice over nice. Controls are iffy, too often I have to click two, three or even four times for the game to respond, but nothing game breaking. There are a few meaningless decisions you get to make, but they are kind of fun. As you find pictures you can rotate them into your deck for different looks, and when you buy decorations for the cemetery you get to pick from three different looking versions of the same items. There are power up, but unlike most games where you get a certain number per level, these have to be purchased, which makes them worth less in game play terms. For me, this is a strike against. That said, over all, a fun little time waster, an easy one thumb up. ADDENDUM: a little under fourteen hours, start to finish.

Fun art, basic solitaire type game with just-interesting-enough challenges each round. There are plenty of anti-frustration features to keep things moving and interesting. My only critique is a frivolous one: The scene you are building piece-by-piece, the art pieces to go into it often do not actually fit the perspective of the background, and it just looks... odd. But that's really trivial and not a gameplay factor, just aesthetic.

it's alright

Eh, it's a solitaire game. It's fine more or less and I probably will end up getting most, if not all, of the achievements in this game. I'm just not really feeling it honestly. At least it looks nice and it's kinda cool that you can customize your deck. Still, glad I picked this up while it was on sale (not to say this isn't worth the $10).
