DarkLast, developed and published by NedoStudio, is a first-person survival horror title that attempts to blend open-ended exploration with light combat mechanics in a bleak forest setting. Framed around a lone protagonist navigating a mysterious and hostile woodland, the game positions itself as an atmospheric journey into darkness, both literal and psychological. From its opening moments, it emphasizes isolation, placing the player in a sprawling environment filled with swamps, trees, and ominous silence, suggesting a deeper narrative lurking beneath the surface. Exploration forms the core of the experience. Players traverse large outdoor areas that are meant to evoke unease through dim lighting and environmental ambiguity. The forest landscapes stretch across multiple sections, encouraging wandering and discovery rather than strict linear progression. However, while the open layout suggests freedom, it can also feel unfocused. The lack of clear environmental signposting or meaningful landmarks sometimes results in aimless traversal rather than intentional suspense. Atmosphere is central to the design, but without strong environmental storytelling or dynamic world-building, the sense of dread occasionally struggles to maintain momentum. Combat is present but minimalistic. Hostile mutants and creatures appear throughout the forest, requiring players to defend themselves using basic firearms. Shooting mechanics are functional but simple, lacking the refinement or tactile feedback often expected in first-person horror shooters. Enemy behavior is straightforward, with limited AI complexity, and encounters tend to follow predictable patterns. Rather than heightening tension through varied combat design, these confrontations can feel repetitive over time. Resource management and strategic depth are also relatively light, placing the focus more on survival through persistence than on tactical decision-making. Narrative elements are hinted at but remain understated. The premise suggests a connection to the protagonist’s troubled past, yet storytelling is delivered sparsely and often indirectly. Environmental clues and fragmented context leave much open to interpretation. While ambiguity can enhance psychological horror when carefully constructed, here it sometimes feels more like incomplete exposition than deliberate mystery. As a result, the emotional impact of the journey may not fully resonate with players seeking a more structured narrative arc. Visually, DarkLast reflects its indie development roots. Environments are built using accessible game development tools, and while the forest setting is serviceable, textures and models appear modest compared to larger productions. Lighting is used to establish mood, but technical limitations occasionally undermine immersion. Sound design contributes to atmosphere with ambient forest noises and subtle cues, though the audio landscape remains relatively sparse. The game’s pacing and save structure may present challenges for some players. Sessions can require extended play without frequent checkpoints, potentially leading to frustration if progress is lost. This design choice adds tension but may feel punishing rather than rewarding, especially when combined with the open-ended environment. Ultimately, DarkLast represents an ambitious attempt to craft a survival horror experience within the constraints of indie development. It prioritizes mood and isolation over mechanical complexity, offering a somber forest journey with light combat and exploratory elements. While it may appeal to players curious about experimental or low-budget horror titles, it does not fully realize the potential of its atmospheric premise. For those seeking polished mechanics, layered storytelling, and dynamic encounter design, it may fall short, but as a compact indie effort, it stands as a modest exploration of solitary survival in a hostile wilderness. Best for this money xD

Great game
Esperava mais.... não tive paciência.
Wenig erwartet.
I don't like to be mean in reviews...but this isn't even a game. You start with no intro or story of any kind, just pick up a gun and start to shoot enemies... Are the enemies spooky monsters? no,they're just solid black dudes with guns, they're dumb and effortless to kill. The graveyard you wander around seems to be very small,it might be a little spooky if it had music or threatening enemies, but it has neither. Just the same gates, tombstones, and tiny chapels over and over. I stomped around for a while thinking I'd at least try to beat the game, but if it has an ending I can't find it. I seem to have been everywhere and shot everyone...there's...just nothing... That's it. That's literally it. Anything else you buy for this price will be better.
