a friend gifted me this. I don't usually play these types of games but it seems like a cool, big and pretty complex rpg with interesting mechanics and lots to do and explore. I am pretty "noob" at old true rpgs like this but it doesn't seem to complicated for even a begginer to get sucked into the game. Only played it for a bit but from what I heard about it and seen so far it seems like anyone who likes rpgs like this one could sink many hours into it. Combat can be sorta tricky to get hang at first because it isn't just left, right,up,down you can go diagonally and with the cooldown on attack and enemies and you not being restricted to just 4 directions you'll have to spend some time to get used to timing your attack, aiming it and predicting when to attack and where but it isn't a bad thing it makes combat more lively but it might take some getting used to at first.
Probably one of the best roguelikes ive ever played, its packed with tons of content including conquering kingdoms and becoming their monarch and managing em, making your own undead army as a necromancer while also having decent crafting skills and a plethora of other skills including multiple magic, sorcery and occult/religious skills in an open world setting full of kingdoms to harrass and conquer, dungeons and other points of interest to explore. Totally worth the very low price of 3.29 euros and the demo offers access to the full game with only limitation i found so far being that your characters cant go above rank 1 in demo version.
It is a shame that this game hasn't blown up bigger with the roguelike or RPG communities. I would say this is a excellent title for those players that enjoy things like Caves of Qud or Dwarf Fortress. I have only scratched the surface here, but i'm already impressed and overwhelmed equally. Good stuff is here hidden under a minimalist graphic overlay (which i actually have grown to love), and for the low price point you don't have much to lose by supporting this title. Give it a chance, darkDIRE is a game for those that desire more from RPG's.
Jeu très profond !

This game is a jewel of shiny diamonds!
The dev shoudl pause everything and just fix the UI. The command system is a total mess. It's a weird mix of arpg and roguelike system: the default key for attack is "end", and for interacting is "home"... just WTF? let me do this stuff with the mouse, since you move with WASD and the game has real time combat (as opposed to roguelikes, which uses a turn based system where you can afford to search for the right key in the keyboard) there no way to open the inventory directly, you have to press esc and then select inventory. Speaking of which, the inventory is the weirdest thing i ever saw, and it's totally separated from the equipment, so in order to equip something you have to go to equip, remove what you have in the slot, return to the game, open inventory trought esc menu and finally equip the idem. It's horrible, just copy literally every single diablo clone, it can't be particularly hard to code something more streamlined. speaking about streamlining, why there isn't an hotbar even thought there is an hotkey system in place? WHY??? there's no way to zoom freely. I want to zoom out way more than i'm allowed to. I have a big screen. Lots of people play with big screens. Half of my screen is occopied by a low res avatar of my character; i would rather zoom out and enjoy the granular pixel art. So, the UI is so bad that is the main thing keeping back this title, which is otherwise really good and extremly complex. It could a CDAA and Elona contender with very little work. So just buy this hidden gem and press the devs to swith to UI optimization rather than the ambitous (but probably un-needed) 3d stuff they're working on right now.
