Really digging this so far, it’s a little bit like Risk of Rain but without 8 billion spawning enemies every 2 minutes… it’s more like 2 billion every 3 minutes. But seriously, even though I’m still learning how to navigate through the world, and I’m not sure how many levels there are, but it’s very promising at this stage - part of me can’t wait to see what the Devs have in store for the future, but no need to jump the gun quite yet, as this thing could potentially be built upon for a long time (and I hope that’s the plan). EDIT-Forgot to mention, the screenshots don’t really do the game any favors, I don’t know what the deal is, but I think it looks better than what is shown, maybe you just have to see it in motion?
Dark Umbra is a 2D sidescroller hack-em up. You play as one of six playable characters, each with their own unique weapons and special attacks. Your main goal is to progress through 6 randomly procedurally generated worlds and defeating the Big Bad at the very end. Each character has a basic attack, a special attack and with the latest update special abilities with their special attacks. Play as a Ranger that can combat roll and deal sweeping blows, play as an Archer that lays traps and shoots piercing shots or play as a Wizard that can use different elemental spells just to name a few. As you play through and level up you'll get to select one of three upgrades that provide a passive or active bonus, such as increased attack speed, health, damage, defense, gaining a minion that'll heal or deal damage for you. Each level has a hour glass timer that spawns in enemies each time it refills up that get gradually harder and harder. You can stay and farm the increasingly harder enemies or fight the end level boss and move on. Before a run and either after when you die or reach the end you can use the Gold you've earned to buy upgrades at the town to better improve your stats for future runs. Overall an enjoyable game with decent enough replay value and hopefully a lot more updates to come.

A very fun little roguelike. Progress is fast, the mechanics are very straightforward, and the controls feel fluid and natural. Hitting enemies gives a satisfying "thwack" that you want out of any sidescroller. I like that the unlocks are achievement-based but I would love to see more in the future that are a little harder to obtain. It's easy to gain completion pretty quickly-- I had most of the achievements within 2 hours of playtime. It looks like there will be more to come (hopefully!) and I soon hope to have 100% in this game as it seems quite achievable.

Dark Umbra is incredibly fun, if you are a fan of platformers side scrollers, or rogue likes, it is a steal for the price. Where this game really shines is in co-op, playing with friends makes it even more fun then it already is.
Fun hack and slash sidescroller, with a Rogue-Lite elements. Not especially difficult. Interested to see how it continues to develop. Takes about 20-30 minutes to beat a run if you're grinding for gold. Fun characters to play with varied abilities. Definitely needs additional content and some tuning-up. Bosses are interesting the first time through, but very predictable by the second time you see them. Good amount of unlocks and achievements.
