*Dangerous Relationship* is an otome visual novel from Dogenzaka Lab that leans into the fantasy of secret romance with public figures, wrapping its story around the glamorous yet volatile world of celebrities. You play as a young makeup artist who unexpectedly becomes entangled with the stars she works with—five men from different entertainment fields who each draw her into a different kind of relationship. From the outset, the game establishes a tone of drama, temptation, and professional boundaries stretched thin, presenting a premise built around the thrill of hidden affection in an industry dominated by gossip and image. It is a setup designed to appeal to players who enjoy high-stakes romance and a certain level of dramatic flair. The gameplay itself sticks closely to the traditional visual novel framework. You progress through linear story segments and periodically choose dialogue responses that determine your relationship direction. Each man—an idol, actor, model, singer, or comedian—offers his own romantic route, and the experience hinges on exploring these individual narratives. The routes move at a brisk pace, with scenes unfolding quickly and leading efficiently toward one of several endings. Because each story can be completed in a short sitting, the structure encourages replaying the game multiple times to discover each celebrity’s storyline, making the design more about collecting experiences than building one long overarching narrative. The appeal of *Dangerous Relationship* lies largely in its character archetypes and the fantasy they represent. Each love interest embodies a particular slice of the entertainment world: the idol whose public smile hides personal pressure, the brooding actor troubled by fame, the charismatic model who glides effortlessly through attention, the talented singer with emotional depth, and the comedian whose levity masks vulnerability. These portrayals are familiar to otome fans but are framed here through the lens of fame and secrecy, which adds tension to even the lightest scenes. The art style supports these personalities effectively—clean linework, expressive character portraits, and polished CG illustrations help set the tone. The bar or studio backdrops, while simple, contribute to the sense of working behind the scenes in a glamorous field. However, the game’s strengths are balanced by notable limitations. The writing is straightforward and sometimes shallow, rarely exploring the psychological or emotional complexities that come with dating high-profile individuals. While the setup offers rich thematic possibilities—power dynamics, public scrutiny, emotional strain—these are only lightly touched upon. Some dramatic turns feel abrupt, and the pacing often rushes key emotional developments. In certain routes, the behavior of the love interests can cross into uncomfortable territory, and the storytelling does not always engage with these moments thoughtfully. These tonal inconsistencies may be jarring depending on the player’s sensitivity to boundary-related issues in romance narratives. Production values also reflect the game’s modest scope. The artwork is appealing but limited in quantity, the interface is functional but dated, and the localization varies in quality, with occasional awkward phrasing that reduces immersion. The short overall playtime and the linearity of each route mean that players looking for a deeply branching or lengthy romance experience may be left wanting. Yet for those who enjoy compact, character-focused otome titles, the game’s brevity can also feel like an advantage—something that can be completed in manageable sessions without demanding a large time investment. Ultimately, *Dangerous Relationship* succeeds in delivering a light, celebrity-themed romance experience that fits comfortably within its genre. It offers enough charm, drama, and variety among its love interests to entertain players who enjoy the fantasy of falling for men in the spotlight. It doesn’t attempt to be ambitious in narrative depth or emotional complexity, and those seeking richer storytelling may find it lacking. But for fans of short-form otome games with a glamorous twist, it provides a satisfying blend of romance, tension, and escapism, wrapped in a premise that stands out from more conventional settings. Dangerous Relationship is typical Dogenzaka Lab game, one of the worse ones. Don't expect too much from it. It is playable and you can possibly find at least one suitable suitor according to your taste, but it lacked too much for my taste. The game system is the same as in other Dogenzaka Lab games: prologue, separate stories for 5 LI, good ending and best ending, date scenarios, sequels and several extra stories. The whole game can be finished in 20 - 25 hours. Pros: + Art, from sprites to CGs. + Romantic content. Cons: - Translation. But you can live with it. - Plain story (if we can call it story). - Easily forgettable characters. - Annoying background music. Definitely wait for a big discount if you want to check out this game.
