Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
Interesting and unique idea, very creative use of VR. However, it just doesn't run very well, at least not my rig. There's just so many videos playing at the same time that frame rates take a big drop and it's hard to appreciate any of the surroundings or ambiance of this artistic/commercial village. You basically teleport around. There's actual art pieces laid about in a way that makes it seem as though you are in this village. There's also several videos playing along the wall. I would say I only recommend this to people really interested in the subject matter and are able to overlook the technical difficulties. Rate 5/10.

Dafen Oil Painting Village: An Immersive Reality is a free VR experience. It worked on my HTC Vive system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok, was understandable. This is a very small interest documentary title, about the Dafen Oil Painting Neighborhood in Shenzhen, China. The narration was in English. Has 360 videos also. CONS: Didn't work with Index controllers, missing some buttons. Try it, only if you interested in Art or travel to China.
Dafen Oil Painting Village: An Immersive Reality 10 из 10
I didn't understand what the game was for me. Probably because there is no Chinese, but free games must be praised.
Dafen Oil Painting Village: An Immersive Reality is not a game. It's a VR exclusive "documentary", or alternatively I guess you could describe it as a software demo for a "virtual exploration" of some hippy who went on a trip to Dafen once and apparently that's all you need to do to become a game developer. If only such an experience could inform wanna be film students on what video games are, because some people apparently don't know. This has misleadingly been launched in the "Games" section of Steam instead of the "Software" section. This is a common mistake for developers who are new to Steam, or don't understand the difference between games and software which isn't a game. It's also something that is commonly done by failed artists who, frustrated by the restraining orders taken out by local art galleries, must resort to paying $100 to self publish their exhibitions on Steam because nobody else wanted them. Here's a link for the process to publish Software which isn't a game on Steam. It's unfortunate the developers chose not to read and follow this process. Publishing things which aren't games on Steam in the Games section as games is misleading to gamers and somewhat harmful, because it pollutes the Steam marketplace and takes away visibility and market exposure for genuine game developers who do the right thing and make games for gamers. There are no gameplay loops in this software, no "gameplay", no meaningful game like interaction. All you do in this is look at stuff. It's a software application and as such has no merits as a video game for gamers. Because of this, I cannot recommend this non-game art exhibition software as a game to gamers.
Quite buggy, stuttery and video is low res. I wanted to like it, but quickly got out and uninstalled. - Main menu selection (selecting a video) is not intuitive - Frequent stutters in general performance (I run everything else at max settings with GTX 1080) - Videos are low res, wide angle lense with lense refraction (fish eye) which kills the emersion.
