Uncompromising cyberpunk narrative
Enter a future grounded in reality: a world distorted by corporations and dominated by poverty. This is down to the bone cyberpunk, as raw as it gets: violent, gritty and sexual... if you want it to be. Experience a world just a turn of a corner away from our own. Be ready for hard, bitter choices. Be ready to carve out your niche with whatever it takes, be it blood, love and everything in between.

Learn who you are through your actions & choices
Your abilities are intrinsically tied to your successes and failures. There are a multitude of ways to solve each problem you’ll encounter – what you choose impacts not only your chances of making it out alive, but also how your character grows and experiences the world.

Who needs romance when you have hard banging?
cyberpunkdreams offers everything from long term partnerships to dirty alleyway hook-ups. Experience the sleaze of slums sex work, the buzz of Interstate or the dark pleasures of the Projects. Be in charge or be under someone's heel. The choices are endless – including to opt out completely, if that's your preference.

Probably the most gender-friendly game of all time
What would cyberpunk be without the ability to transform your body to match who you really are? To be who you really are? cyberpunkdreams features many ways to modify your physical form, as well as an incredibly detailed gender system. You've got you physical sex, then your true gender, including a wide range of choices such as demigender or flexible, then what you're currently presenting as, then what you're most commonly known as in each location in the game, all of which can evolve over time. And all these choices matter. The people around you will react to you differently depending on who you are.

Choices have consequences, and the city remembers
Your choices aren’t detached from the lives of the people around you. Richly detailed NPCs will evolve on their own, remember and react to the alliances you create, the mercy you give and the morals you stand by. If you’re looking for a true lesson of consequence, you’ve come to the right city. Be ready for people who don't care about you, or care about you too much. People who will revel in your choices, or hate them.

Embrace yourself, flaws and all
cyberpunkdreams offers highly customisable character creation that continues throughout your entire time in Cincinnati. Become who you want to be. Occupy your skin in any way you choose. Gender, sexuality, cybernetics, mutations, clothing and equipment all combine to create a fluid system with any number of possibilities. Choose not just what you do but why you do it. Respond to the things that happen to you with glee or bitter remorse, and choose which of these inner feelings to share with the NPCs who are close to you.

Look. This game is very distinctly not for everyone. It takes a very specific kind of freak to resonate with what Cyberpunk Dreams brings to the table. That being an old, OLD, school text based rpg with an energy mechanic straight out of Facebook games from the 2010s. This game is more cynical than even me and deeper than the damn ocean for what you expect when you hear "Text RPG" Your hand is not held, events are designed to only be seen after you've played the game for months if not years. The achievement for getting a character to day 600 isn't just some Challenge meant only for the most hardcore players. It's the way the game is designed to be played. Course there's also an achievement for dying nine times so... Give it a try, if you like it? Live fast. But not too fast. You only get 6 action points an hour after all.
It's a great game but it's supposed to be a slow burn. You get actions that regenerate over the course of real time, and that forces you to be smart about how you spend them, so you can't just sit there for hours upon hours burning through everything. Just a little bit every day. One of the more ambitious single man dev team games I've played. Not everyone's cup of tea but if you like in-depth character customization, text based games or the cyberpunk genre it's absolutely worth checking out. If you like the game and you're gonna play it, it's absolutely worth the money to get credits for a subscription and the unique storylines and options. Also always great to support your small devs.

CPD is a strange beast: grim, unforgiving, and deeply compelling. Setting-wise, it offers a distinctive and well-constructed world within the thematic and aesthetic spheres of cyberpunk as a genre. The world around you is twisted, violent, paranoid, corrupt. You arrive at the border of Cincinatti, knowing nothing about what you'll find inside, and barely anything about yourself. You become a small-time player in a big, horrible world; an ant crawling its way furtively up a titan's leg. You'll experience the narrative through your efforts to learn and survive. Build a network, engage in a little crime, engage in a lot of crime, try not to get beaten to death. You can die in this game, but doing so leaves behind a legacy for future characters, and there are even opportunities that are opened up specifically by failure. The game has a good community for seeking guidance, but there's a lot of fun to be had in the learn-by-playing as well. CPD also stands out from many - perhaps most - other F2P, action-refresh style games in just how little content is actually gated by premium credits. The content that *is* is inexpensive and in most cases (typically signposted if otherwise) permanent to that character slot, and you'll be able to take it on subsequent characters with no repeat purchase. The premium content I've taken up has been compelling, but not lopsided or 'broken' compared to what you get out of the free parts of the game. It also lacks the kind of action point scarcity seen with others of its kind. In general, if you find yourself engaged there are many ways to support the dev if you wish. Overall, have had a lot of fun with this one. If you like dark, narrative-heavy roleplaying that you can just pick up and chip away at once or twice a day, consider giving it a shot.
This is quite addictive hardcore simulation of everyday harsh life in dark future. But even in that dirty westworld filled with hardships and mindbreaking mess you still can find peace and happiness! But mind still can blowing up in first days of learning all the levels of complexity...
Details people, details, and this game is full of them. I was very quickly enthralled by Cinci and the world this game establishes, and I especially love that you- the player- are no superhero. You are not V, you are not a Johnny Silverhand, you are frail and easily killed. You will be weak starting off and continue to weigh the risk and reward as you go forward. I cannot recommend this game enough, but the only problem I've encountered is wishing I could play more in a day. Though it makes sense as the dev seems to want this game to be a long term commitment where you play for maybe twenty minutes a day. So the consensus is: PLAY IT!
Fun mostly text based cyberpunk game. If you are up for a lot of reading there are a lot of quality stories you can participate in. I think this game has a narrower appeal than most. Late game ends up being a bit of a role playing experience. Pacing is intentionally slow. It takes weeks of real time to recover from a broken bone. My main character spends a lot of time buying and selling junk to find cyberware installs.
Traditionally, I'm the type of person who doesn't care much about story in the games I play. I usually skip cutscenes, fast-forward through conversations, and try to get straight to the gameplay. This is the first game in a long time that's completely broken that habit. I actually want to read the dialogue, understand the characters, and see where each story leads. The writing is gripping, sometimes shocking, and never shies away from difficult topics to fully convey the bleak, dystopian world it takes place in. The cast is incredibly memorable. Some characters I've grown to genuinely like, while others I've come to strongly dislike and that's due to how well they're written. Even characters who only appear in shorter storylines manage to leave a lasting impression. The mechanics aren't always immediately intuitive, but I've found that's part of the experience. As I learn how the game works, it almost feels like I'm learning alongside my character, who's also a newcomer trying to find their place in the city. Nearly two months in, I'm still discovering new mechanics, uncovering new areas, and stumbling across stories I hadn't seen before. It constantly feels like there's something new waiting around the next corner. My advice to anyone thinking about trying it is simple: stick with it. Even if the mechanics seem overwhelming at first or you're unsure how everything fits together, give it time. This isn't a game that's meant to be min-maxed or rushed. It's about immersing yourself in the world, following the stories that catch your attention, and carving out your own life in 2090s Cincinnati.
cyberpunkdreams is a text-driven role-playing game developed and published by Late Night Games that delivers one of the most detailed and immersive cyberpunk experiences available on Steam. Rather than relying on flashy graphics, cinematic action sequences, or open-world exploration in the traditional sense, the game focuses on storytelling, character development, decision-making, and long-term role-playing. It combines interactive fiction, life simulation, character management, and narrative RPG systems into a massive sandbox where players are free to carve out their own destiny within a harsh and unforgiving future. Set in a dystopian version of America during the late twenty-first century, the game begins with a simple but compelling premise. The player arrives in Cincinnati, a city balanced between opportunity and destruction, carrying personal ambitions and uncertain prospects. The city is controlled by powerful corporations, criminal organizations, political interests, and individuals desperate to survive. From the very beginning, players are faced with difficult choices regarding how they will navigate this dangerous environment. Every decision contributes to the creation of a unique personal story, allowing each playthrough to develop in dramatically different directions. One of the game's greatest strengths is the freedom it offers. Rather than assigning players a fixed role, cyberpunkdreams allows them to become almost anyone they want. Characters can evolve into corporate operatives, mercenaries, investigators, criminals, smugglers, entrepreneurs, social manipulators, hackers, or countless other identities. The game rarely forces players toward specific outcomes, instead presenting opportunities and allowing individuals to determine how they wish to pursue them. This open-ended structure makes role-playing feel authentic because players are constantly shaping their own narrative. Character creation and progression systems are remarkably deep. Players customize attributes, skills, personal traits, backgrounds, cybernetic augmentations, physical characteristics, and long-term goals. These decisions are not cosmetic additions but meaningful factors that influence interactions, available opportunities, and story outcomes. Different builds unlock different approaches to solving problems, encouraging experimentation and replayability. Whether creating a physically imposing enforcer or a highly intelligent manipulator, character identity has a significant impact on gameplay. The writing serves as the foundation upon which the entire experience is built. cyberpunkdreams succeeds because its world feels alive through words alone. The narrative captures the atmosphere of classic cyberpunk fiction while maintaining its own identity. Themes of corporate greed, social inequality, technological dependence, personal ambition, addiction, crime, and survival are woven naturally throughout the story. The city feels oppressive and dangerous, yet it also contains moments of hope, humanity, and connection that prevent the setting from becoming overwhelmingly bleak. One of the most impressive aspects of the game is how it handles consequences. Choices rarely exist in isolation. Small decisions made early in a playthrough can lead to unexpected opportunities or complications much later. Relationships change based on actions, reputations evolve over time, and various factions respond differently depending on the player's behavior. This interconnected design creates a world that feels responsive and believable, rewarding thoughtful role-playing rather than simple optimization. The social systems deserve particular praise. Cincinnati is populated by a large cast of memorable characters, each with their own ambitions, flaws, and motivations. Building relationships becomes an important part of progression because allies can provide opportunities, information, resources, and emotional support. At the same time, making enemies can have serious consequences. The depth of these interactions helps transform the city from a collection of locations into a living environment populated by people with their own lives and agendas. Life simulation mechanics further enhance immersion. Players must manage finances, housing, equipment, health, social obligations, and personal wellbeing. Daily survival often becomes as important as pursuing larger ambitions. The struggle to earn money, maintain relationships, and improve living conditions reinforces the game's themes of perseverance and adaptation. Unlike many role-playing games where economic concerns disappear after a few hours, cyberpunkdreams ensures that resources remain valuable throughout the journey. The game's cybernetic enhancement systems are particularly satisfying. As players gain access to advanced technology, they can modify their bodies in numerous ways that affect both gameplay and storytelling. These augmentations provide practical benefits while also reinforcing the themes of transhumanism and identity that are central to the cyberpunk genre. The question of how much of oneself should be sacrificed in pursuit of power becomes an ongoing consideration. Another remarkable achievement is the sheer amount of content available. Years of development have resulted in a massive collection of storylines, side activities, character interactions, locations, and opportunities. Players can spend dozens or even hundreds of hours exploring different paths while still discovering new content. The city feels vast because there is always another lead to follow, another relationship to develop, or another opportunity to pursue. The visual presentation is intentionally minimalist, relying primarily on text accompanied by occasional illustrations. While some players may initially hesitate because of the limited graphics, the approach ultimately works in the game's favor. The writing encourages imagination, allowing players to construct their own vision of the world. The artwork that does appear is effective at establishing atmosphere and highlighting important characters or events without distracting from the narrative focus. The atmosphere throughout the game is exceptional. The city feels dangerous without becoming hopeless, and every success feels hard-earned. Corporate towers, criminal underworlds, neon-lit districts, and struggling communities all contribute to a world that feels authentically cyberpunk. The setting consistently reinforces the idea that survival and success often require compromise, making every achievement feel meaningful. One frequently discussed mechanic is the action system, which limits the number of activities players can perform before waiting for replenishment or finding alternative methods of recovery. While some players view this system as restrictive, others appreciate how it encourages careful planning and decision-making. Regardless of opinion, it remains one of the game's most distinctive features and helps shape the overall pacing of progression. What ultimately makes cyberpunkdreams stand out is its dedication to role-playing freedom. Rather than delivering a predefined story, it provides a framework for players to create their own. Every choice, relationship, success, and failure contributes to a unique narrative shaped by personal decisions. Few games offer this level of agency while maintaining such strong worldbuilding and narrative consistency. cyberpunkdreams succeeds as an ambitious and deeply rewarding cyberpunk RPG that emphasizes storytelling, choice, and character development above all else. Its extensive customization, rich writing, complex social systems, and immersive dystopian setting create an experience that captures the spirit of cyberpunk fiction better than many larger-budget productions. For players willing to embrace a text-based format, it offers an extraordinary role-playing journey filled with opportunity, danger, and unforgettable stories. Rating: 8/10
This game, if you love roleplay and reading, is one of the most interesting and in depth games I've played. I could not recommend it enough to the point where the things I get frustrated with become things I love. The difficulty can be unforgiving but you get a grace period for each character. You're going to die. You're going to die a few times before you get to the guts of the game. As Specially if you choose to be a mutant... (you can be a vampire, cannibal, or spliced human with animal genes all with their own upsides and downsides as a mutant) If you have the balls and stick to it this will easily become one of your favorite games (I have bought credits)
This game has been a constant companion of mine for the past half a year and it’ll remain so for the foreseeable future. I cannot recommend it enough. The stories are compelling, the writing is superb, the world is intriguing and puts its own spin on the cyberpunk genre. The community around this game is just plain awesome and the official discord is bustling with activity. To top it all of, the development of the game is steady and new content is added regularly. Know what you are getting into however: This is a text-based game. It’s not a game with reading, its an interactive story with any action, drama and emotion solely packed into letters. Expect to play across many sessions. You’re not going to pull one or two All-Nighters and have seen it all. This game is a marathon, not a sprint.
