Cyberpunk 3776 harkens back to the glory days of arcade shoot-em-ups. It all begins on a postapocalyptic earth and proceeds into space. Your journey will be a metaphor about life and death, a road that every person has to walk down alone. The only choices you get while on your path to the inevitable end: keep your head up high or forfeit.

Not sure what this sh'mup has to do with the "Cyberpunk" genre - there's not any hacking or corporation overlords involved in the story. If anything, the main character's narration makes it seem more "Noir". Anyway, it's a decent shooter which lets you upgrade your ship's subsystems (weapons, shields, health, etc.) using Upgrade Points which randomly drop when you kill enemies. The more you upgrade a particular subsystem the more points it costs to upgrade it further, so it makes sense distribute some of the points instead of dumping everything into one or two places. You keep the upgrade points found in a level even if you die, though not if you quit from the level while alive. You only have the one life, but can take plenty of hits, more if you upgrade your shield and health. Once you die you can start on any level you've previously reached, which is always appreciated. It took me a bit under two hours to beat the game. The final boss was giving me a lot of trouble, so I resorted to replaying an earlier level a few times in order to be able to afford a couple extra upgrades. By the end, I hadn't maxed any of the subsystems, and most weren't even half-way to being maxed, so it would have taken a lot of grinding to max the whole ship for the OCD folks. I don't think there's quite enough content or replayability here to justify the $9.99 price, but at 75% Off it would not a bad value.
Cyberpunk 3776 is a 2d horizontal shoot em up set in a dead Earth. Well at least I think it's dead. I have no idea what is going on as the story is told through bits of emo sounding dialogue throughout your adventure that tries to come off as deep and philosophical but it ends up falling flat on it's face. The voice actor for our protagonist is surprisingly decent and it's a shame that he has to spout out nonsense throughout. Cyberpunk only has 7 short levels but it tries to overcome that by having an upgrade system. That doesn't really end up being a good thing though as the item needed to level up drops randomly and infrequently as well as the game having pretty poor pacing that requires you to level up before standing a chance. If you are decent at shoot em ups you can simply dump all your upgrade points into damage which works surprisingly well and allows you to breeze through most of the level until reaching a boss. You can also upgrade your shields, speed, fire rate and more. One of the first features that you will notice is that your weapon overheats after firing it for a couple of seconds, leaving you unable to defend yourself. I am unsure as how to feel about this feature as on one hand it forces you to think and choose your targets but on the other it can also really screw you over when facing one of the bullet spongier of the enemies. You can hear when it's about to overheat but the bar that shows exactly how much more you can shoot is hidden away in a tiny bar on the upper-left of the screen. Cyberpunk also adds this weird color flashing effect that shows up randomly making it harder to see enemy bullets and debre. It serves no reason and it will be a problem for people prone to epilepsy so buyer beware. For having only 7 levels the variety of environments seem to be lacking but what is there is pretty cool to look at. The way you regain your health is via a circle with a cross but it is a pain to notice as it is nearly invisible. Simply making the cross a more notable red could have fixed this issue. On mission 4 the background kind of mixes in with the foreground making it a bit hard to see which debre can actually kill you. It is wise to activate your shield during these parts just in case. Shields regenerate pretty quickly but you will not be able to turn them off until all your energy has been drained. Bosses are forgettable in design but do offer up most of the challenge in the game. A neat little detail while fighting them as that as you chip off their armor it can fly toward you and if you don't move out of the way splatter your ship into oblivion. Every-time you defeat a boss a new enemy will be introduced which is essentially a tiny much weakened down version of the last boss you killed. It adds a bit more variety to the basic enemies but they are still complete pushovers that serve to give you upgrade points and distract you until you reach the boss. The last boss was kind of a let down as you are going to have to face him three times, granted he has different styles of fighting each time but that last level really dragged on. It is refreshing to see a shoot em up be more slower paced instead of going the pure bullet-hell route like most games of the genre tend to these days. It has a lot of problems and it is clear that it was made by an amateur but I still had a decent amount of fun with it. Also worth noting is the music. It was an unexpected surprise but the soundtrack is rather good which makes playing that much more bearable. Nothing about it really makes it stand out and it is pretty badly designed in places. This is one of those times that I wish Steam had a neutral button instead of a simple thumbs up or down. I don't believe this title is bad enough to flat out not recommend but be warned it is very short and you will most likely forget about it's existence in a few days after playing it.
Boring enemy formations and epilepsy triggering visuals combined with pretentious meaningless mumbling. The 'difficulty curve' only exists because your ship lacks upgrades that you have to grind for. There's nothing cyberpunk about this game. It's just a boring generic shooter that tries to hide behind some horrible visuals and some pseudo deep lines. 10$ for this is a bad joke.
This game gave me aids 10/10
Side-scrolling shooter with a unique atmosphere
This is a perfect time-killer, it may not be revolutionary, but its atmosphere, the climate it builds is very unique. Slightly narcotic with a hint of the 80s/90s The bosses at the end of each level are very satisfying, while the levels themselves have a well-implemented difficulty level that increases very steadily. Of the major downsides of the gameplay, I can only mention the overheating system, which is moderately suitable for this type of game. The story is told by the pilot himself through his monologue, his last thoughts, the last person on Earth. One final battle, one final destiny.

However, its niche appeal and potential for repetitive gameplay may limit its broader audience. If you enjoy action-packed, challenging games with a deep atmosphere, Cyberpunk 3776 is a great addition to your gaming library.
The game is fairly competent at what it does, but the graphics are a bit much. The game really loves doing colorful flashes of stuff on the screen that can be hard on the eyes. Every so often it likes to super impose some colorful image crap infront of whatever you're doing, screwing with your eyes and the visuals more. If the game had a way to tone down the visuals to not be so flashy and constant eye straining, I could recommend it.
Not the cyberpunk game I expected :(
